|
|
I have been working with a recruiter about a position that he has open and everything has been going good until the degree verification part.
They are asking for a copy of my actual degree, but my school only issues them once a year, every June.
So since I missed this years ceremony, because I was in Korea, I have to wait until next June...
My recruiter told me my application will be denied if I don't give them a copy of the actual degree, but, I thought they changed that rule?
I have had an e-2 before, last year, and all I gave them was a letter from my school that was notarized and apostilled. Now they are telling me that that's not good anymore!
So, with all the changes they've instituted, I thought sending your actual degree was not required anymore? |

confused...
You had an E2 (last year) and it was for a year.
Now you are saying you can't get your degree (actual parchment) until next June because the university only issues them once per year.
umm... That would mean that from the time of your apostilled letter attesting to your graduation until your receiving your parchment is almost 2 full years?
....
Now to the issue at hand - new rules (subject to Kimmi changing their minds again) says that you need to make a copy of your degree, get it notarized then have an apostille affixed to it. Kimmi is no longer accepting the originals (and apparently not the letter attesting to your graduation).
options:
1) try anyway.
2) try another recruiter.
3) try another country.

Hi guys,
Ttompatz, I called immigration today.
The new changes are to take place on September 1st (apparentely).
So up until then they will accept original degrees.
*EDIT*
However, if you do not apply for your ARC card before that same date then I think that you will need to give immigration a notarized and apostilled copy of the degree. Furthermore, when you apply for a visa extension you will need to give immigration the notarized and apostilled degree copy, if you have not previously done so.
It's a bit of a nightmare for those freshly out of contracts.
Cheers,
Ollie |

Perhaps the recruiter is not being clear in what they mean by 'copy of the actual degree'.
A notarized and apostilled copy of the actual degree is being introduced by Korean Immigration. In other words only a notarized and apostilled photocopy of the actual degree is soon to be required in order to get an E-2 Visa.
Most recruiters will be phasing out the requirements to send the original degree. This is in repsonse to immigrations new rule, which takes effect from 1st of September, that only notarized and apostilled degree copies (photocopies) are acceptable for E2-Visa issuance.
In short, it may be that your recruiter is asking for that notarized and apostilled degree copy.
Who knows though? |

Get your school to mail it to you. I'm sure they can hand it to you more than just once a year.
Seems daft. |
