i've only been here a few weeks but i've been told that korean over the counter meds aren't really up to much.
i injured my shoulder playing football before i came and was taking cocodomol for the pain. it wasn't constant and seemed to be getting better but i injured it again last weekend and the pain is pretty unbearable.
i came with a few tablets but they are almost all gone, and the small amount of ibuprofen i brought isn't really cutting it...
whats the strongest i can get over the counter?
i have little to no korean so i don't think i can explain my situation to a doctor..
any help greatly appreciated! |

Most doctors here understand some English. They are also very cheap. They seem to make up for the low cost per visit by trying to get you to come back as frequently as possible.
Find a doctor and get a prescription. You can also go to Itaewon and find doctors who speak very good English and work on Saturdays. The one caveat is that Korean doctors like to prescribe a lot of medicine. I like to know what the drugs are that they are giving me. Having 5 different pills to take and not knowing what those pills are disturbs me. Also, the pharmacists must fill the entire prescription. So you need to make sure that the doctor didn't prescribe pills you don't want. For best results, find a doctor with whom you can communicate. |

Not to be downer but about 2 years ago I broke both of my hands while in Korea. I had my director take me to a doctor and he took x-rays and examined me (my hands were swollen to twice their size and throbbing like hell).
I expected to get some amazing pain killers becuase I was geniunely in pain, when my director dropped off my script at the pharmacy she came back with a bunch of packets with 4 pills in each. I had no idea what I was given but they did nothing for the pain. I eventually stopped taking the pills because I was afraid they were a bunch of tylenol and my liver has already taken a beating from the booze.
So in my personal experience the pills didn't do much and if my injury didn't warrant some strong pain pills I don't know what will.
