I've been in contact with Adventure Teaching and I'm impressed so far. I've seen them mentioned here only once or twice. The company's relatively new, started in '07, so I was hoping to hear from someone's who's actually landed a position through them (or knows someone who has).
Anyone?

My girlfriend and I used them for our second job here. They were nothing less than totally awesome. In fact, we know several people who've used them and all have felt the same. Top notch crew there. |

I went through Adventure Teaching as well, as did most of my friends that I've met here.
They were very helpful before I came over here, and always got back to me as fast as possible. Sometimes their communication wasn't the best, meaning I would get calls from literally every person that works there asking me the same questions. I sometimes thought they never talked to each other!
But that is bound to happen at any recruiting office. They have been in contact with me since being here, and are always offering advice. I would definitely recommend them. |

i went through adventure teaching, and i agree that they are a good company with good intentions, but i have some issues with them. their communication sucks, not with you, but with each other.
the two people who were looking for jobs for me in korea both told me different things and it seemed like they never talked to each other. my boyfriend and i wanted to be placed together and while one of the AT guys said we probably wouldn't be able to live together and maybe not even be in the same city, the other guy said it would be no problem. luckily, it wasn't a problem and we do live together!
when i finally got offered a job, i was told i would be arriving in korea may 29-30 and would start teaching june 1. so of course i made plans in may, only to be told around may 14th that i would actually need to start orientation/training in korea on may 24th. luckily (again) i was able to rearrange my plans and it was ok.
however, the biggest problem i had was that due to AT's sucky communication, my school thought they were providing an apartment for me and i thought i was getting a housing allowance and living with my boyfriend. i definitely wanted the latter option but the school had already put a 400,000won deposit down on my apartment so AT paid half the fee and i still owe them half the fee (which i haven't paid yet).
BUT... everything did end up working out, i am sure other people had 100% positive experiences (like my boyfriend), and AT is very good about helping you out with the visa process and keeping in touch with you even after you arrive in korea. |

Adventure Teaching have been good for me so far. They have responded to my e-mails and got me a contract with the pay I wanted (2.2).
The only problem, and hopefully it will be resolved soon, is the flights. I want a direct flight from where I live (England) to Seoul. The only one I have found is with Korean Air from Heathrow. I definitely do not want my journey to take 16-23 hours due to stopovers or changeovers.
I e-mailed them about flight arrangements and I received an e-mail saying that flights are booked through their travel agent. They arrange the flight for you. My problem with this is that I think I should be able to book my own flight. Surely I know which flight is best for me?
Up until very recently it was optional whether or not Adventure Teaching arranged your flight. I e-mailed them last night with my thoughts and hopefully they'll allow me to arrange my own flight. I'd absolutely hate being forced on a flight involving stopovers and changeovers when I can book an affordable, direct one myself. |

Following on from my earlier post they have said I can book my own flight (I think it's because I'm flying from England) so they have been very good to me so far. |

I am in the process of working with Adventure teaching and so far they have been nothing short of spectacular. The staff is knowledgeable and has virtually walked me through the application/interview process. I am set to start my position in South Korea in mid-August and would definitely recommend Adventure teaching to anyone. |

Currently my girlfriend and I are waiting on job offerings. AT currently has our documentation and says they are searching for our jobs. However it has been a month since they started searching and we haven't had a single offer.
So I'm just curious if anyone experienced a long wait before job offerings started? We are hoping to leave by the end of Aug or the begin of Sept. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the delay.
Thanks,
Stephen |

yeah my boyfriend and i applied together and had a similar wait. we applied in january, got all our stuff together and sent by february, and waited around for about a month until march when we had phone interviews. also my boyfriend got a job and left 7 weeks before i did, which sucked. but they did manage to place us in the same city and we live together, so that definitely worked out, which we were worried about. |

My boyfriend and I are totally in the same boat as you! Same intended departure date, same lack of actual offers, etc. A friend of mine is recommending that we ask AT nicely for our documents back, since they haven't technically gotten us jobs yet, but I don't want to burn any bridges. It is a pain and super expensive to get all these documents again for other recruiters, though! Anyone else have any insights? |

Well that's a little discouraging, it defiantly would be expensive to get new documents and expensive to have them mailed back... I believe I paid 60 bucks to mail them over! My girlfriend and I have attempted to get info out of them, regarding the current climate of jobs and if we would get our target date, but we have yet to receive anything outside of "just wait". It wouldn't be as frustrating if my lease didn't run out this month.
So did you and your boyfriend attempt any other recruiters prior to AT? Do anyone have any other recommendation for finding jobs?
We had an offer from Wonderland, but thanks to this forum we declined that offer, but we are yet to find another one.
Thanks,
Stephen |

Sorry to hear about your dilemmas. I've been in contact with multiple recruiters, so I chose to hang on to my docs. |
