I'm moving home in a couple months and would like to get my financial situation sorted out. Does anyone know if it's possible to set up an international account at HSBC or Citibank and keep it in won. I'd like to keep that money in won and then convert it to dollars when it's back up to its former level. Anybody had any experience in this before? Any suggestions would be welcome. |

I would also be curious about this. If I'm out and about and happen upon HSBC, I'll pop in and find out. |

HSBC has a multi-currency account that allows you to change your savings into different currencies, but the won is not one that it allows you to hold.
I would look into KEB. Set-up online banking with them at the branch by bringing the routing+account number of your bank at home. Just keep the money in the KEB account. Just wait for the won to appreciate and transfer the money online. It arrives in your account about 1-2 days after you authorize it. If by any chance you needed some of the money in your KEB account, like for an emergency, you will have a global debit card you can use. |
