Welcome to the club! I'd say an unusual number of us married to Korean women seem to have boys. That is, of course, if your wife is Korean. Regardless, Congrats!

Thanks. I got here almost 3 years ago to date and had no idea how long I was going to stay. I started out as a hagwon teacher before I jumped ship to climb the corporate ladder here. Man these past 3 years have whizzed by. And now I'm married with a baby on the way. Unreal. I miss my family and friends in Cali - I'm here now because my wife is having her baby here and I've come to be with her for the birth - but I love the Motherland! Razz Life is good...can't complain.

Thanks, man. Yeah my wife is Korean...but so am I. I'm a KA. Damn when it does it hit you that you're going to be a dad?! She's due to give birth any day now and I still can't believe it.

Good luck pal. My wife and I had a kid 8 months ago. Now I'm always broke.
I never get laid. I suffer from sleep depravation. My wife is also on
Prozac and Xanax for PPD. I see my friends about 10% as much as
I used to. I used to be a member of several clubs in Seoul, not no
more.

Did I say congrats?

Silly of me to just assume that you were not of Korean descent. Nonetheless, it's good having a boy! I think I would've freaked out about a lot more if I'd had a a girl as my first kid. You're in for some sleepless nights, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Congrats!

Welcome to the club and all the best!

Married to a Korean as well and our first was a boy too....

Get ready for sleep deprivation and a lot of joy. When you fly back to the US, remember to contact the airline and reserve a bassinet on the plane. These are a godsend for long flights. Our son and daughter both used them when they were babies.

Our son is starting school this fall, time flies.

That's an excellent piece of advice that I wish I'd known on our first trip back with the kid. The difference on the flight back with the bassinet was amazing.

The bassinet was indeed quite helpful.

Other flying advice: pack extra clothes for yourself in the carry on in case of spills or other expelled matter from the bundle of joy.

Feed the baby on take off and landing as it helps with the ears.

Go the airport earlier as going through security with a baby can take longer.

Bring your stroller as you can roll right up to the plane door and they will then gate check it for you. You get it back once you exit the plance. Quite helpful in the airport.

Note that most airlines have baby food/formula onboard but that you need to reserve if before the flight, do that at the same time you reseve the bassinet.

Get seats in the first row of the coach cabin, with kids you can request them.

You can board before other passengers which is also useful.

Take care and congratulations with the up coming baby Very Happy

PatrickGHBusan, thanks for all the great advice, man.

My wife is planning on staying here in Los Angeles for at least a month after our son is born, maybe longer before she flies back to Seoul. She'll be staying with my parents out here and my mother will help her with the baby. I have to be back in Seoul in less than two weeks, so I will likely miss out on a few weeks of my son's life but my wife will have a lot of help and support here. Hopefully everything will be fine when she flies back with our son - I might have my mom accompany them on the flight as well.
