Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that if you're using DDR2 you should go with multiple of 2. Since you want DDR3 then you should go with multiples of 3 (3 or 6 sticks of RAM --> 3G, 6G, 12G, 24G) to take full advantage of your DDR3 RAM.

Since you asked nicely, you're wrong.

It depends on what chipset you're using. DDR3 is not inherently triple channel. It is triple channel with only, I believe, the X58 Intel chipset. With the P55, and all AMD (again, I'm pretty sure), it's dual channel only.

So for the board the OP is looking for, he would be correct in wanting 4 sticks.

I just picked up a GTX 460 and was looking to sell my GTX 260 sp216

But its Asus, not EVGA, Interested?
