Plus of course the 50 wan or so/month on the contract. Why am I seeing so many different and prices that people have bought the phone for? Why is there no clear price for the phone and contract? It seems like it is much cheaper than the iphone 4 because it's not imported. I will only have an E-2 visa but I'm gonna use a friend to help me get the non foreigner price. I just don't get why people are paying differently than what SKT said they would sell it for?

The price of the phone itself depends on the contract. If you want no contract, the price is high. If you get an expensive (70k per month) contract, then the price is lower for the phone itself. That's how every phone in Korea (smartphone at least) is that I've ever seen or read of.

Is that really too difficult for you to understand?

I got the phone for free, but then I have a business and a F-5 to boot.

It all depends on your potential to create business for them.

I have 3 cellphones, a land line and an internet connection registered under my business. They reward this by giving me a freebie.

Just look at your situation and determine from a business perspective whether you can be considered a valued customer.

hey kprrok, thanks. My next question is why are you such a tool? That might take longer to answer though so nevermind.
And thanks juregen! I guess I'll just have to get there and see.

The answer to that question doesn't take any time at all. I'm not a tool. You only perceive me as one because I called you on your stupidity or laziness.

My question to you is why not use your brain and think about it before posting such an easy question to comprehend? If that's not possible, I'd recommend not posting at all so you keep your limitations a secret known only to yourself.

In comparison to some of the outlandish rubbish spouted across these forums, not knowing the price plan of a Korean cell phone doesn't seem all that stupid.

If you can get a Korean friend to help you out or you have an F-visa, this is probably one of the better places to buy your phone (assuming they let you).

You're right, thanks. But wow people really need to pull whatever is up their behind out. Why you would go out of your way to insult someone on here is a little strange to me. Maybe go seek some help and unclench lol.

Anyways, thanks to the people who actually helped me.

chizjr,

Actually kprrok is right.
The 290,000 refers to a subsidized price. If you buy it for that, you are still paying for the rest of the phone over the next 2 years, it will just be built into your contract.

Since people pay different amounts each month on their contract towards the phone you're going to hear a number of different prices for the phone.

It is impossible to get the phone for 290,000, then cancel your contract and walk off free. The cancellation penalty for doing that would be about 500,000 so SK can recoup the cost of the phone - this is the reason why they don't let E2 visa holders get subsidized contracts.

I think that's the point kprrok was trying to make.

I got my Galaxy for 750,000, after 3 months it goes into my name and then there is no cancellation penalty. I can assure you I will have paid the same amount for the phone that you would be doing if you got it for that 290,000 you heard of and then held on to a 2 year contract as your monthly bill would be quite a bit larger than mine (45,000 + 1200 texting plan) as you'd also be paying an extra fee for the hardware.

My friend who got me the phone (and put it in her name for 3 months before it can x-fer to mine) is an SK employee, I'm not feeding you BS.

If you're a business or corporate user then they are probably willing to take a hit on the phone based on the size of your account/loyalty etc.. (she said that's a case by case basis) but there's no way you can get a special deal on the phone if you're just teaching on an E2 visa, even most Koreans couldn't.
