I've been trying to search for a dentist. and a lot has been coming up about tuftsdental.net
however... after reading multiple reviews i'm starting to wonder if they were posted BY tufts dental?!?!
she has a linkedin there are ads on facebook... i mean they are really trying to advertise. and a lot of the posts are somewhat similar in diction and format. "she's better than my doctor in california!" "she's better than my doctor in LA!"
I also noticed that they have similar review on multiple sites...
can anyone give a real review!?!? I have an appointment soon and i'm SCARED that it's a SHAM |

I saw those posts you were talking about and you're right... they look more like ads then reviews.
If you decide to go through with the appointment would you please put up a serious review, I'm tempted to go to them as well but I'd like to make sure before. |

i noticed that as well and decided to go to another dentist because of it. however, like the previous poster, i'd be interested in hearing about your experience with them if you do end up going. |

At asknow recruiting site you can printout discount coupons to used at Tufts Dental Office. I had a friend who came through that agency and went to Tufts and said the Dentist spoke English well and had no problems. |

I just saw this as I was trawling through the posts. I am a legit poster - Im an English teacher..I had a very positive experience, but I spent a lot of money. But then again I had a lot of work. I also had bleaching and she threw in one for free (probably as I spent so much), anyway I recommend them, they are legit, speak English and do good work. |

Went there last week for the first time for a checkup and cleaning. The staff were really friendly and they spoke English well.
I had a part of a metal bracket come loose prior to going to the dentist, and she offered to fix it for a price. I joked that it was a little too much, and she gave me a discount for it.
I'd go back there again. |

I went there last week. The quality was fine, I'm really no expert there. It was really nice to have good English service for going to the dentist. It is bad enough that I have no idea what is going on at the barber shop, I want to know what is happening at the dentist.
Anyway, definitely legit. |

I went there for a consultation but I didn't get any work done by her. I had my coteachers find me a local dentist instead. She seemed to want to push the most expensive options on me, and when I wasn't comfortable with that and wanted to leave, they were still trying to get me to stay and just have a few x-rays done while I thought it over. I just don't like being obviously squeezed for money.
I feel like they know most foreigners prefer the convenience of a fully Western style, catered-to dental experience and they're going to make sure you pay out the nose for it.
I didn't feel uneasy about the quality of the place, though. Just the prices. I was told I had 3 cavities and quoted 150,000 per filling. I was also told they wouldn't accept K-insurance. Went to the aforementioned dentist that my coteacher found for me and they did accept my insurance, and for the high end filling (not the stuff with the mercury) it was only 30,000. Oh, and I only needed one filling, not three. |

They do accept Korean Health insurance, its just that that covers only certain work - not white fillings for example (only amalgam and she, like most private dentists in Korea, doesn't use it, because of the mercury). I had root canal work and that was subsidised by KNHI. THey will also negotiate prices, the more work you get done, the better the price.. |

I too did not have a great experience there. Unfortunately, after much pressure, I let her reshape my front teeth (according to her they looked like "bunny rabbit teeth"). When I arrived back in Canada, I saw a dentist and she showed me that I have numerous fracture lines on my teeth and I found out that Dr. Gina had removed almost all of the enamel. Since then one of the teeth she reshaped cracked. I personally preferred my "bunny rabbit teeth." At least they had the enamel to support themselves. I guess at some dentist offices, cosmetic dentistry can have the opposite effects.

Yes, very pushy. Just because foreigners are targetted as clientele, it doesn't mean we should be subjected to add-ons and unnecessary up-sales.
Although I get less communication with my local dentist down the road from Tufts, the dental care is still good and less price gouging. |

I went to Tufts Dental last summer for a cleaning and had a good experience. The dentist did ask if I wanted my teeth reshaped a bit but when I said no she didn't push the issue. It cost 20,000 more than my local dentist, but the local dentist didn't use the polishing stuff and I feel like Tufts did a more thorough job. All the advertising is rather much, though. She even gave me a 10,000 won discount for posing for pictures for their brochure! |

I have been going to Tufts dental since last summer. I wanted to get Invisalign and after discussing it with Dr. Sohn we decided to go for it, even though it didn't look like the best method for straightening my teeth. As it turns out it has worked better and faster than expected. And I haven't had anyone notice the braces (trays) yet. The price has been reasonable, probably what I would pay back home. She seems well qualified and always explains what she is going to do before doing it, I have never had a dentist anywhere do that. To be honest, I wouldn't have trusted a Korean dentist. I have been to a few medical places in Korea and the doctors are impossible to talk to and they always try to find the quickest and cheapest way to do something. I chose her because she was trained in the US and she had a practice in the US. I also had reshaping done on my teeth. When it was finished I was surprised how good my teeth looked. |
