A coworker of mine has a middle school aged son who has applied to participate in a government subsidized overseas English training session that will take place in the U.S. during the summer vacation. He has asked me to prep his son for the interview portion of the application process. Typically, we don't have a lot of time to prepare. He asked me yesterday and the interview is on Saturday.
So I was wondering if anyone had any experiences or tips to share for an interview like this. Beyond some of the obvious questions they may ask, I really don't have any idea what to expect. Anybody in the know out there?
Thanks in advance for your replies. |

| I assume the interviewer will be a native speaker? Your colleague's son may not have had many opportunities to talk with foreigners so the best you might be able to do is have a couple friendly chats & work on obvious questions. That might help with nervousness. Compliment his efforts in order to build up his confidence. |

That, good sir, is a fine question and one I will endeavour to find the answer to. It hadn't even crossed my mind.

Well I just approached my colleague to find out some more details about the interview and he told me that his son failed to pass the first level of the application process and will not be granted an interview.
So this thread is all for naught. |
