Launch day is upon us. I've read that the game is region locked. Korean client can't play on US servers, and vice versa. HOWEVER, Australian/NZ copies of the game will be able to play on both Asian and North American servers.
There is no LAN play, so you can't get a group of people to the PC bang and all play each other without each person having a Battle.NET account. Also, Korean Battle.NET doesn't accept foreigner ID numbers. So, you'll have to find a Korean to sign up for you. |

It might be just like WoW is set up. You can't create a new US server account from Korea because battlenet filters IPs, but if you get someone back home to set it up for you, you can play on US servers from here with no problem.
No idea if SC works like this but if both games run off of battle-net, it could be. |

Battle.net does filter IP's via region, but its as simple as changing your region from English(Kr) to English(US) on the website before you login. |

I don't understand your question. If its not the retail version than what is it? Beta?
Blizzard is allowing digital download of Starcraft 2 now. However, unless you got the retail KEY from the store, you have to wait a few more hours for Blizzard to open up the online store to buy a ket this way.
I would imagine all the clients in PC bangs now are either BETA clients or Full retail clients. However, if they are retail clients, no one will be able to login to the game until they activate their SC2 account via Battle.net. That is not possible until Blizzard opens the online store.
SC2 is not like other games. In order to play it, you gotta setup an online account just like you would for World of Warcraft. After you launch the game, you have to "login" and authenticate to Blizzard's servers before you can do ANYTHING. |

Question is simple: do the pc bangs here have sc2 retail (release) installed, as in can i go and play single player right now... or is it going to be a few days. |

You can't play single player without setting up an online account on battle.net. Korean PC bangs have Korean clients installed, so you need a Korean Battle.net account to play. EVEN SINGLE PLAYER REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE A BATTLE.NET ACCOUNT, ACTIVATED GAME. |

Well, I tried to authenticate and buy a key this morning...wouldn't let me. Screw Blizzard, and screw them for seperating a game with a completely viable SINGLE player campaign into pointless regions for the sake of a multiplayer system I won't even be using. |

they will just download hacked copies and play it on Korea's Garena system which allows pirated copies to work.
Somehow I don't think it will be a big deal here, SC2 that is.
I've asked most of my students and they all said they won't play it cause it's inferior to SC1. I think Korean players will be highly resistant to change, even when its only cosmetic like in this case. Sooner or later they will switch over but I don't think it will be all at once. |

Played a bit of the single player campaign last night.
Good fun, and the production levels on the in engine cutscenes is awesome. It's pretty cool seeing the sort of things Blizzard used to do as FMV back in the nineties being rendered in realtime.
Looking forward to a complete crack so I can try some skirmishes and save the campaign |

Knowing blizzard, they'll just phase out SC1 to force Koreans over. That's what all this "region" garbage is about, btw, getting all the tournament money from SK. |

I'm getting a "Temporary outage of Battle.net service".
Been researching and I believe its due to playing a North American copy of SC2 in Korea.
Even though I have a US battle.net account, that I setup in the US with a US address and US credit card, my IP is from Korea.
So, its not letting me login.
I hate Blizzard. |
