Let's say I want to start working in Korea in March or April 2011 in either a Hagwon or a PS. When would be the best time to apply?
Thanks. |

Definitely get your documents in order ASAP, check the FAQ' s and sticky's to make sure you are all set on the updated E2 visa documents you need to get. Especially since if you are hoping to come down in March/ April you will fall under the new guidelines requiring a national background check (FBI for US applicants) and apostilled or Korean consulate notarized diploma. If you are in the US, word has it that the national check alone may take up to 12 weeks so definitely get those started asap. Once you've got everything in hand I would start applying for PS's in October because that's when the big Offices of Education start to take applicants, earliest applicants= first dibs on positions. If you want to go the hagwon route you have more leeway as they tend to hire a few months before, like maybe 1-3 months.
So yeah, my advice is to have your documents all set before you start applying because if you don't have all your documents in order recruiters tend to overlook your application in preference of people that are ready to go. |

January postings for March (beginning of term) starts.
You may find some as early as December but most schools (not hagwans) are on holiday from end of Dec. until start of Feb.
