Its been a "dangerous phase" for the last 60 years.
Gets a bit tiring to constantly live under these politically manufactured states of emergency after a while. |

Nothing is going to happen.
Although China publicly sides with the North Koreans, they are fully aware of the danger the regime poses to the stability of the region as well as to their own stability.
Back in the early 2000's, North Korea walked away from the 6-party talks. To "persuade" them to come back, China turned off its natural gas pipeline into North Korea for 3 days. That's all it took for them to go back to the bargaining table.
As for a strike on Seoul, not in a million years. There are early warning systems all along the DMZ that will warn of a possible attack from the North's mountainside artillery bases. Thats when the MLRS systems and the mercury-tipped "bunker busters" go to work...talk about a fireworks display.
Not to mention Japan-based American subs that are always patrolling off the west and east coasts for possible warning signs of attack from North Korea and China.
Not to mention the undeclared nuclear arsenal already stationed in Korea.
Again, nothing is going to happen. |

The media does what the media does OP. In this case fear sells.
NK has been playing the provocation game for decades. |

I think the media are sensing that something is up this time. It's weird how everything is calm and North Korea are now telling us that they WILL use nuclear weapons soon .

Yes, it was weird when they said they would strike anywhere in the world in 2003:
http://www.strategypage.com/qnd/korea/articles/20030213.aspx
when they said they would turn South Korea into debris in 2008:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0%2C2933%2C444369%2C00.html
and when they said they would throw "merciless blows" in 2004:

Absolutely nothing new under the sun. Also, remember that death is inevitable. Yours may come later, or amidst a sea of radioactive fire tonight. It could come on your next stroll up to the local mart with something falling on you or running into you. No worries ever, because even if you feel you can prolong your life, you may be putting yourself at greater risk in another way. |

That's perfectly ok. Some people are not capable of critical thinking and deductive reasoning.
China keeps North Korea afloat under the policy of having "satellite states" that cushion an invasion and give the Chinese time to mobilize their forces to repel an attack. It was the same policy the Soviets had during the Cold War. This is also the reason why there are 100,000 CPLA troops and 20,000 tanks stationed along the border.
These Chinese military assets play two roles;
1. They repel the massive refugee influx in case of war
2. Invade the country and install a Chinese-friendly government so the Koreans, UNC or the Americans can't unite Korea under a pro-US government.
The strategy for the CPLA is that while the North Koreans are concentrating their firepower against the USFK-UNC forces in the south, the CPLA would overrun the country from the north and reach P'yang in two days- taking out Kim Jeong Il or Kim Jeong Un (whoever is in power at the time) and installing a regime that would negotiate another truce with UNC forces.
Chinese forces would then officially occupy the North to maintain the status quo.
If you don't believe that the Chinese have a design on North Korea, look up the Northeast Project. |
