|
|
I'm flying out Saturday around noon. My friend said I should leave at 6AM because it might be impossible to get a seat on the airport limousine bus.
Has anyone ever had trouble getting an airport bus during peak travel season. I've never flown out of Korea at his time of the year, so I've never had a bad experience.
What should I expect?
I guess the other option is the subway. Any ideas on how long it takes form Seoul station to Incheon? |

I've been on the bus when they had to start turning people away. That was the line past Hongdae and only the last stop (Hapjeong) had people turned away. And that was about 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning.
I think if you are not at last two stops you are OK.
If possible , you can take the subway to Gimpo then there are buses going to Incheon airport every minute or two. But I know that is not a good subway ride with big bags. |

took the bus at 530 am from habjeong. 5 people in there.
i dont think that at 6am the bus will be full.
that might happen at 8 or later. cuz people, in general, hate taking early flight. and those who do, mostly business people, have their drivers.
if you still think you wont be able to get to their airport in time, check the long distance busses (red busses). theres at least a few that go to incheon airport as well.
or, take a cab to gimpo and from there take the first subway to incheon airport.
or, yet another idea, take a cab to habjeong and board the bus there. its the last stop of the 6002 line i think and the bus leaves from there every 10 mins. it takes 40 mins for the bus to get to incheon airport. |

Depending on where you are catching it from (in Gyeonggi) you may need 1-2 hours of travel time.
Noon flight, 2 hours early for check-in = 10am at the airport.
So you would probably want to be on the 8am bus. Most of the airport buses in Gyeonggi run on a 20 minute schedule so you should be fine with that.

If you are really concerned I'd just take the train. |

even if u purchase the ticket in advance somehow does not guarentee u a seat.
i always buy my ticket on my way from the airport.
also i never really had a problem getting on the bus there or back.
(i could definately see people having hard time on the way back from the airport)
my suggestion i'd avoid major transfer stations. and if u want a guarenteed seat, find the route that is closest to you and i'd st art north where the bus first picks up its passengers. that will guarentee you a seat.
my bus does about 5 stops after my stop (4th stop) and ive never seen it full. |

I remember travelling around this time last year and I did have to wait until the third bus to get a seat. But since they came every 20 minutes it wasn't a problem (I was coming from Gyeonggi, about one hour east of Seoul). I always leave planning on getting to the airport 4 hours early. If you are really concerned with space. Just take the AREX, always room on that. |

Take the Airport train from Gimpo, it takes 30-40 mins depending on whether you catch the express train or not |

Since there are seat assignments on tickets sold at the bus terminals, couldn't you get a guaranteed seat a day in advance? |

Just because you have a seat assigned to you doesn't mean some older person won't take it and then refuse to move. |

It's considered OK if they took the window seat you were assigned and you sit in their assigned isle seat. If someone is sitting in your seat, there is a seat assigned to them some place else on the bus so there shouldn't be too many people on the bus. I've never seen the problem of too many people getting on the bus, but all the seats are usually filled with last second running for a bus backing out attempts to pay the driver cash being turned away when all the seats are full. This is on weekend buses to and from Seoul. Assuming airport buses are managed the same way as other long distance buses, they won't sell a ticket if no more seats remain on a bus, but will sell you the next available seat. You shouldn't never have the problem of not being able to ride if holding a ticket with seat assignment. |
