I am returning to Canada to attend Packaging School. I got interested in packaging while in Korea. There are really cool and different types of packages here.

I looked up packaging on college websites in Canada, and there is only 1 school in all of Canada with a packaging program. Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON has a 2 year diploma in Sustainable Packaging Design. It is a mix of materials science, graphic design, logistics, and the business of packaging. Everything comes in a package. By some accounts, the packaging industry is one of the largest in the world. With the shift towards more sustainable packaging, big changes are underway in the industry.

Check it out. http://www.mohawkcollege.ca/calendar/gdpPackaging.html

Very few graduates every year with lots of jobs in the field. My business degree I got before Korea coupled with a skill set in an industry like that should lead to good opportunities.

Hilarious!

Got news for you - you won't get the rank of Professor in a university in Japan with just an M.A. Those days are long gone my friend.

You might be lucky enough to get hired as a Lecturer under a term-limit contract for 2 or 3 years - no renewal.

All the best, though.

I moved to Berlin after leaving Korea last month. I'm planning to focus on improving my German over the coming 12 months, perhaps looking for some part-time bar work to help with costs sometime from autumn.

In a year I hope to still be here, but will be applying to UN Volunteers and the European Voluntary Service at the beginning of next year.....if something good comes up then I could see myself relocating to anywhere in the EU or Asia. I'd like to start working on upgrading my French from next summer, so France is going to be a focus for my EVS applications.

In three years I hope to be back at University, studying towards a Masters degree in East European and Russian Studies......although I'm also toying with the idea of European Studies (slanting my study towards the new accession countries, together with a focus on the EU's relationship with it's neighbours, whilst at the same time learning more about how the EU's various political structures work). This will probably be in Amsterdam, but at the moment I'd love to be able to study in Germany.....we'll see how good my German is in a couple of years.

In six years I hope to be working in the Not-For-Profit sector.....the dream would be as a Researcher / Project Coordinator for Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch, but there are many smaller organisations out there that do great work and I'd love to work for any one of them really. This will probably be in Brussels or Geneva as this is where the majority of the jobs in this sector are located in Europe for those starting out.

10 years from now??? That's really far too far away to say. I would like to be settled into a career, with a few years of experience under my belt and with the skills to apply for a wide variety of jobs in 'my' sector.....being able to choose where I want to live and work and being able to apply and get the jobs I want and need in order to do that. Feeling like I'm making a difference with my life, and living like a grown-up basically.......by that I mean having far more control over my work and living conditions than I did as an EFL Teacher in Korea or even as I have now as a Language Student living in Berlin......Working the job, leading the lifestyle, living in the city and in the apartment and neighbourhood that I chose for myself.

After Korea, I plan to enter a post-baccalaureate or master's program that will give me a teaching credential in English literature (or possibly science - I majored in both English lit and biology in college.)

I didn't start out wanting to do teaching, but after stepping in as a substitute for my mother, herself a teacher, for 3 months when she was sick, I realized how satisfying and rewarding teaching can be.

My ultimate goal is a career in teaching, preferably at a magnet or charter school in an underprivileged area. I am a product of charter school education in such an area, and it saved my life in high school.

After that...who knows.
