My card in front says in fine print NON-TRANSFERABLE. I thought I read on Daves once someone claiming a Costco card from America could be used in Korea. Is this not the same for America? Confused

When I got my card here, I asked if it were good in the US and the answer is yes. Non-transferable means you can't lend the card to someone else--It's your acount and your account only.

Yes.

I have used my Korean Costco card in Korea, Canada (Vancouver, BC) and the US (Phoenix, AZ) until it expired.

I was NOT able to renew it abroad ... When it expired I had to get a new one (same price and benefits).

The savings/benefit is so ....so...marginal....it makes no sense to even be concerned with the "savings."
It's 6 of one or half dozen of the other.....you save big on some items and do not on others.....
of course...I suppose they'll carry items that other stores do not that you want.

No. Last time I got a US membership it cost me $50. My Korean membership was only 30,000 won. Plus, every time I used my US membership card at the register a supervisor had to be called to enter some code into the machine.

Not really.
I would wait since a regular membership is nearly twice as much in the US ($50=60,000KW), it's only 35,000KW here.

Really? I thought it meant you can't send it to a junior/community college to take general college level courses before going to a university

Nope. The exclusive credit card for Costco here is Samsung:
Quote:
What types of payment does Costco accept?
You may pay by cash or Samsung Card. We do not accept other credit cards because their fees would increase the costs to us and our
members.

Here is the English web site for Costco in Korea.

laguna: Look at post #2.

I just signed up for a Costco card this week. I had to agree to allow third parties to view my info in order for my membership be used out of the country. If you didn't agree to that then you can't use it in the States. woo hoo for fine print!

I've used my card in the US often.
You have to tell them in advance that it is an international card. Then they can enter a code before starting to ring up your stuff. Then just chit chat a bit about the difference between the Costco here and there.

That is the worst thing about Costco here.
Why not have some notice so the cashiers can type in whatever and keep the line moving??
