|
|
After doing countless tests, it appears my hardrive is on the fritz. (ran Dell diagnostics and got a harddrive failure).
Is it rather easy to replace the harddrive on a Dell XPSM1530 notebook?
How much do drives cost these days and is there a specific one I need to get or can any drive buy work?
Any info is appreciated. |

Got a new 500GBer put in mine for 80K. Probably a little on the high side, but who can be bothered doing that stuff themselves? Especially if you don't have the tools. Just from the first hole in the wall PC store I could find.
He installed W7 Ultimate for 25K as well. |

Its pretty simple. If you flip your notebook over, you should be able to see your hard drive. Check the edges of the book and find where it is, then unscrew it and pull it out.
If there is some kind of cover or plastic thing attached to the front to make it fit snugly into the laptop, you should be able to just unscrew it and attach it to the new drive. |

You can buy a small kit for 15000W won or so. Comes with a USB sata interface, along with a power adapter SATA interface. Plug them in and it'll hook up your old hard drive. Transfer everything over that you need (pictures, documents, mail, favorites, etc) You can even use the hard drive as an external drive if you want. Though if you want to do that I'd just buy an external enclosure for it, it'd be a little more permanent. |
