I've been in Korea for a while now and had done a visa transfer about a month ago to a new school.
But a week ago I was seriously violated by someone and I wish to return home. But now I've only worked for this school for a month.
I have an idea about how it works to resign from a school but I am worried that my director won't give me a letter of release because I've been at the school for such a short time. I don't want to do a midnight run, because I might want to return one day again.
Can anyone suggest some help about what I should do?? I am terrified of what my director might say if I tell he I want to quit. But I feel strongly about it because of above mentioned reason |

You should only need the letter of release if you are intending to work in Korea again before your visa expires (in 11 months). You seem to imply that you have suffered a trauma, in which case, do you see yourself returning to Korea within 11 months? If not, do not worry about it -- if the school hasn't done anything to you, I would give notice rather than simply pull a midnight run -- it may amount to the same thing, but saying, "Something horrible happened to me, and I need to be back, amongst my family and friends, in order to deal with it -- sorry to leave so suddenly, but that is why" would be honest enough without going into details you may not want to go into...and might get you the release letter if you are able to return sooner...heck, it may let you come back to your same job, if that is something you might want....
...or am I misreading "seriously violated?" |

In that case, I would tell your boss and go. A midnight run makes you out to be the badguy to the owner, which you are not.... |

I do want to come back to Korea sometime - as I really enjoy this country and everything it has to offer. Within the next 11 months.
I just need to go back, get some kind of help and get over what happened.
Like I said I love teaching here and don't want to ruin my chances of being able to come back. But my boss doesn't even want to change my apartment that's why I am so worried about what will happen if I quit |

Your boss doesn't want to change your apartment?! Screw that $#!+
Run. Go to a different country to teach next. Come back after a year if you do still want to work here. |

It does start to seem like a hopeless case.
Still what are chances of getting a LoR? any ideas? |

You only need a letter of release if you are going to transfer to a new employer without leaving korea (and you couldnt even do that WITH the letter of release after only one month of work).
To have your visa canceled, you leave korea and turn in your alien card at the airport (if you have it yet - if not, your visa will be terminated 90 days after your arrival for not submitting your korean health check to immigration). Then apply for jobs, get a new visa and return.
Immigration might question you about quitting after a month and then wanting to return so soon after, but if its your first time for not completing a full year then there prob wont be many questions - its the repeat offenders that raise the big red flags at immi. |

I will not transfer jobs, I'll be leaving the country. I have my Alien Card. If I turn it in, how long will I have to wait before coming back to Korea? Also 90 days or what? Just curious about that aspect. |

I'm I understanding you correctly? You've just been victimized and traumatized so seriously that you need to leave Korea, but your priority is making sure you can come right back?
Something doesn't add up here... |

They should cancel it right away after you turn it in at the airport, tell them youre finished and arent returning - so you could apply again right away. However, if for some reason reason they neglect to cancel it, you could be stuck for 11 months waiting for your original visa to expire or until your employer cancels it himself. Most of the time, the airport immi agents do their jobs so you dont have too much to worry about. Theres no way to be 100% certain what will happen until you try. |
