It turns out that the guy was caught stealing and was given the chance of quitting or being fired.

I heard it happened after his supervisors brought him in to show him the video of him stealing.

His family said that he often complained that his employers were overtly racist towards him.

They were racist to him, so he stole. They were going to fire him, so he killed them.

Got it.

So he was definitely stealing and the video caught him. Although is it possible it was common for employees to grab a beer here and then, and they fired him because they didn't like him. This is actually one of the reasons you pay attention strictly to the rules when you work, although I don't think they needed to fire him. They could have done something else. This is a bad economy to fire someone in.

Like what?

he stole, and he should have been fired.

Seems simple enough.

Organizations must always fire an internal thief. Workplace culture is easily established and reinforced.

If you're going to steal you have to be careful. I remember in college one of my friends worked at a gas station who would steal beer from the back for us. He found a blind spot from the cameras and poured the beer into fountain drink cups. If you're caught stealing, you're going to be fired every time.
