Yeah. I've worked with him. Waste of time
Is this the same guy who ends all of his emails with "Much Grace in any Situation"? He has the least amount of grace and is extremely dishonest for all of that bible-thumping he does.

I was seeking employment to Korea within a certain time frame, and he told me it was possible to accomplish, he had a school lined up where I wanted ready to hire ASAP. I sent him my documents and got put on the 'waiting list' but, he says, there is a school ready to hire me on the OTHER SIDE OF GYEONGGI ready to hire right away. I got my docs back as he stopped responding to emails when I asked him why he would constantly have 'meetings' with the principal of a school in my desired area, buying him lunches, and not getting an answer.

Tread carefully.

Another thing- he claims to recruit directly with, by, and for GEPIK.

He is a snake

I experienced the same situation. They had a job for me in my desired city. I 'got' the job, so I sent in my contract and documents. I sent an email, asking very specific questions and they never replied. After sending another email and called several times, which were all unanswered. I still have not heard back from them.

Are you a kiwi? (I'm guessing from your user name). Go through TeachKoreaNZ. They were awesome for me, and most of my Kiwi buddies in Korea had a good experience through them.

But what do I do about my documents? I need some advice on what I should do. They havent responded and I'm getting worried now after reading these posts.

I'm supposed to be working at a public school in Suwon.

Are they screwing me over??????????

You really need to keep multiple copies of your docs. Never send your original degree certificate. Get half a dozen color copies notarized. Same with CRC. The Justice Dept will actually make multiple copies of your CRC if you tell them it's for a job in Korea. Your Uni will send multiple copies of your transcript. They were about 3 bucks each at Otago.

Which documents does he have? Your best bet is probably to reapply for them again. Also keep harping on him. Especially if he has a legit job offer for you (which by the tone of the posts in this thread, he probably doesn't).

Are you from NZ? I don't remember getting fingerprinted.

You could try asking for extra copies.

If you can't contact the recruiter, then all you can really do is start getting your docs together again. You shouldn't have sent your original diploma. That was a blunder on your part. Never let it out of your site. You are going to have to contact your Uni and purchase a new one. That is if you can't get a hold of this fellow.

Damn.
I'll tell you what I did.
Called his office. Oh he's not in? Have him call me back.
Email is insufficient.
Call again tomorrow. Call until I get him or he calls me back.
And my gf (if you have a friend in Korea that would be extremely helpful) called him too.

It actually caused a little stress because he conned my gf into thinking he was doing a good job (local thing) Rolling Eyes But in the end, she got the docs and forwarded them to my new recruiter.

Don't have a recruiter call for them, or if that is your only option, try and have the recruiter pose as a "friend"

Good luck

Dude, I can never trust someone named "Testimony".

What if his friends were Genesis Lee, Revelation Huang, and Lutheran Park?

Doesn't pass the smell test.

I've been working with him and I have heard from him since sending in my documents. He's found me a job at a high school in Bundang. I will keep you posted on how it works out. I've actually had a hard time finding a job in Korea, even though I have a year of experience and a good reference from my employer. Most of these recruiters have asked for my birthdate, figured out that I'm 45, and then never called me again. I don't interview too badly, but I could be more confident about my teaching abilities...but I've been doing a lot of reading and figuring out everything that I did wrong during my first year, so that is informing the process. I suppose that if this job somehow doesn't materialize, I will just buy a plane ticket and look for a job when I get there.

Funny thing, last year, I said that if I had $1500.00 for a plane ticket, I wouldn't be going to Korea. Then, I dealt with a lot of culture shock, and complained a lot. I only started having fun near the end of my year. Now, I desparately want to return and I know that I can have a good year, maybe even two or three...wierdest thing.

Glad to hear he's working out well for you, Illysook

My total experience with him was sour.
I asked to be placed somewhere particular. 3 places actually, in cities I was familiar with and close to each other. He swore that it could be done.
He allegedly found a school in one area, I was going for it, then the 'bait n switch'. "Oh, sorry. That school found another teacher. But I have an opening in Ansan and it is easy to get to Ilsan from there"

After having lived in Korea, I have a general idea of where places are. He was hoping I'd take the bait and go to this other school way way out in the boonies.

I'm not saying he didn't have a job available. It was after two months of swearing that he had all the schools under his thumb Laughing he still couldn't get me a job (even after three weeks of "buying lunch" for the principal of this other new school)

Maybe he does have a job for you. I hope your experience is better than mine.
