They played last night at the Jamsil Gymnasium. It's not the original lineup anymore, but the new musicians around Corgan are all pretty excellent.

The venue was surprisingly small, and it didn't even sell out fully. But damn, that show was epic. Because the venue was so small, and because Koreans aren't aggressive at all at concerts compared to Americans, I was able to get really close to the front. The sound quality was fantastic.

They played a solid two hours. They played pretty much every song I wanted to hear except for The Everlasting Gaze and (inexplicably!) 1979. Some deep cuts from Siamese Dream like Geek USA or Rocket would have been nice as well, but I was very happy with what we got. The highlights of the show were the instrumental jams. They played some absolutely breathtaking harmonized guitar parts, and then they would rock it out with some of the most hard-hitting riffs I've ever heard.

Billy Corgan is a damn beast on the guitar. He played some of the most face-melting solos I've seen this side of Eddie Van Halen. He's also a genius at using feedback, delay, wah, etc in combination to produce some downright haunting guitar sounds.

I'd recommend you guys check them out if they ever play Seoul again.

Two of my coworkers went and I'm sure they had a blast as well. If I hadn't just landed and burned through money really quickly, I would have been there as well.

I'm glad to hear it was a good show! SP were really big where I came from a few years ago. Would have been nice to hear some of those instrumental jams. (I miss going to concerts... Sad)

would really like to see them some day, awesome that you got the chance op. I remember going to a friends place in lake louise, canada one night and hearing their cd for the first time. One of those moments when you like a band right away and liked how original their sound was.

If it was only him, shouldn't they have called this particular incarnation simply "Pumpkin"?

They played in a pub about 2 minutes from my house a few weeks back. They are friends of the owners or something. It was pretty crazy seeing them play for about 50 people Laughing
