Hi!

I am moving to Busan in September Very Happy - very excited but just have a few questions...

How quick/easy will it be for me to set up internet at my apartment andsort out a mobile phone?
I am coming from the UK and will bring my UK phone but I have read some conflicting things about if it will work in Korea or not! Can anyone shed any light?
Is it easy to find Korean lessons when you are there? How much Korean did you speak when you arrrived??

Also - what did you bring when you moved that you havent really needed? What didn't you bring that you really wish you had?

Oh - and how an earth do you cope if you have a kitchen in the same room as your bed?! Does everything smell of cooking? Shall I bring loads of Fabreeze?!!! Wink

If you get one of your CTs to call the internet provider in the morning, you'll probably have a guy at your place that evening setting it up for you. Maybe the next day at the latest. There may be issues with getting the service under your name until you get your Alien Registration Card (ARC), and some companies are reluctant to sign up a foreigner. You may have to get service under your CTs name or school.

Your phone probably won't work in Korea. No chance to get one under your name until you get your ARC and bank account sorted out. Once you get your ARC it's hit or miss to find some vendor that actually will sell a contract phone to a foreigner. If one is willing to sign you up, they will probably want you to buy the phone at full price ($200-$500 range) and put you on a month to month contract which you can cancel anytime. Again, sometimes the school, or a CT, can get you a phone under their name but that's totally up to them since they'd be on the hook if you decide not to pay the bill.

Your phone will work here, my phone on t-mobile does. But don't plan on using it much -horrendous charges. Just use Skype untill you get a korean phone set up.

The internet and phone will be as quick as your korean help is. I wouldn't imagine doing wither yourself is easy, as you'll need a korean bank account first.
