what is the deal with the price of cheese in this country. Went to Itaewon today to that supermart thing place behind Geokos.
They have these small blocks of astralian cheese, which is very good cheese and I like it. THis store hasnt had it for a few weeks, so I go there today and they had it.
Ill never buy it again I can say that. It used to be 5,200 won, which was way too much, now it's almost 7,000. WTF? thats a big jump for the same size cheese I was buying for 5200. I thought 5200 was expensive but i still bought it, but never 7,000.
In canada you can get a huge block of chedar for that price, why the hell is it so expensive here, milk isnt. |

Check out this guy named ADAM SMITH ...
The price of cheese, as is the price of EVERYTHING on this big blue marble is a product of SUPPLY AND DEMAND.
Demand for chesse > Supply of cheese = high price of cheese.
There you go ... |

i'm tired of "paying the price". Lots of stuff is imported, and they make cheese here too and it's expensive as well. |

if you don't want to pay the price, you can't have the cheese... cheese is a perishable dairy item with a short shelf life, also it takes takes mighty precious ingredients to make our beloved cheese.
I say, pay the price, eat the cheese... |

Yes - Australian cheece is the best !! I agree with you....
The reason for the huge jump in price is basically this... before (in the good old days) 5,200 won was equal to $7.60 Australia dollars now 7,000 won is equal to $7.30 Australian dollars....
so.... basically in Australian dollars the price has actually decreased by 30 cents - HOWEVER the Korean won has changed heaps in relation to the Australian dollar - therefore because you are paying in KOREAN WON for something imported from Australia - you gotto pay more won....
The milk unfortunately.... is produced in Korea (hence the bad/watery taste - but the cheaper price). |

The USD has stayed relatively the same - hence your CHEAP USA oranges - the Australian dollar has been on a steady rise - hence your more expensive Australian Cheece!!

now who feels stupid because someone over reacted. I dont care what the exchange rate or how many kms it is, it's still too expensive for that little bit of cheese. It's going to go bad on the shelf before anyone buys it. It's the korean shop owners trying to rip off foreigners again is what it is.
They assume that any of us make enough money that we will buy and pay what price they put on that stupid little tag. |
