The Ram and the Dog.........
So this Ram hires a Dog to watch his field with all of his wives and children.
"Some times of the day my wives and children will be here in the field, other times of th day they will be gone to another field or inside the farmers house. When they are gone I'd like you to do some maintenance work on the fence, make sure the troughs are nice and well stocked etc, so that when they are here under your care they are happy and comfortable. If that stuff is done then the rest of the time is yours to do with as you wish"
"Sounds good" says the Dog.
"There will also be many days here and there where we will all be gone on various trips or other outings, I'd still like you to come into work, same arrangement, the time is yours to do with as you please."
So you'll pay me to watch an open field with no one to guard or protect?" asks the dog
"Yep" says the Ram
The dog thinks to himself that this doesnt make a lot of sense really, but since the job is so simple enough. Perhaps he can spend some of that time making a better pen, or improve on the trough system. Not that the Ram would necessarily care, but just to take a little more pride in his job.
"Okay" says the Dog. "I agree!"
After a few months the dog is relatively happy in his job. The Ram treats him well, he has lots of free time to do his own projects while being paid, he even upgrades a bunch of things in the Field.
One day the Ram comes up to him and says
"Okay Dog, you have been working really hard, thanks. My wives and kids will be gone for the next 3 weeks, you can have the next two weeks off, and then report back to work"
"But If there isnt going to be anyone here, Why can't I have 3 weeks off"
"Because I am afraid the farmer may beat me If I gave you more than 2 weeks."
"BUt my buddy Rex at the Davidson Farm doesnt have to stay and watch an empty field"
"Well you don't work for the Davidson Farm, you work here" Do I treat you unfairly?"
"No", said the Dog
"Do I overload you with hard work?" asked the Ram
"No" said the Dog
"Do you get a lot of benefits from working this job, including a steady paycheck and a paid house?"
"Yes" said the Dog
"Then sense or not, this is what I would like, This is what I have decided and you can have the next 2 weeks off, please enjoy your time off."
"This is bullcrap," says the Dog " this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of, why should I come in and watch an empty field, with no one else here? I don't want to do it"
"The time is yours, however, I would be grateful if you could design a new pen and upgrade the trough syste-"
"I'VE ALREADY DONE THAT!!!!" Says the Dog
"theres always ways to improve it, find new and better ways to do so, come up with some new and better ideas. But if you really don't want then again, the time is yours to do with as you please."
"NO! it's stupid, you are being stupid" says the Dog
"Report to work in two weeks Dog, enjoy your vacation as we agreed up on when you took the job"
At this the dog gets enraged and barks terribly at the ram for a good 5 minutes then stops and lies down on the ground in a huff.
The Ram walks away thinking "what an ungrateful pathetic little dog, even with all the good things I give him, and the free time I give him, he still wants to complain about what he DOESN'T get. |

Yeah. The dog should complain on Dogbook with it's friends, but never complain to the ram. Then set up a nice TV on the field and catch up on downloaded shows |

lol, yep pretty much. Course when the Ram has him working in a section of the field with no cold breeze in the Summer, I could kind of understand his discontent.................slightly |

Well, there is the other version where the dog enjoys the free air conditioning and/or heat, free internet, free printer and paper, and free water and works on his online master's degree while the barnyard is empty.
The smart dog never argues with free things, even when the master is acting stupidly, and the electric, heat and water bills for his dog house are much less.

Maybe the dog is pissed because the Ram originally told him he'd be guarding the field but when he arrived there, the dog was shoved in a delapadated kennel and told to guard the field and build a mansion on it at the same time, with friends of the Ram complaining every time a blade of grass was bent backwards. |

If the Dog was being asked to do all that extra building he would be compensated for it, and he could got to the farmer and get it.
So this would not alter the original agreement.
The Ram's friends would not complain about the grass being bent backwards if the Dog took care enough to ensure that the grass was not being bent backwards
However even if they did, if the Ram doesnt care about the grass being bent backeards it's a moot point.
HOwever yes, some Rams can just be dicks in general |
