What are the biggest English schools/ companies in Korea? I'm currently looking for a job in Korea and was wondering what some of the bigger more reputable companies are. I've gathered enough from these boards to steer clear of what most recruiters try to sell you- especially Johnny Kimchi's 2 teacher hagwon with the bi-monthly changing name. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Small hogwons can sometimes be great schools. Of course, if you prefer larger schools, there are CDI, Wonderland and such...

I'll second everything everyone has said before.

1. YBM, CDI, Avalon.
2. Never ever work for Wonderland. Ever.
3. Take everything recruiters say with a grain of salt.
4. Small hagwons CAN be good, but it's as much of a toss up as anywhere else, only with the added problem that your pay may be erratic if your teacher is an alcoholic or bad with their money, and you could end up losing your job if they have to close. The benefits are less breathing down your neck and possibly being more progressive and happier than your standard hagwon hell.

I think RMNC has got it right. At first I thought Wonderland was just getting a bad reputation on the Internet because of a few bad locations. How can an entire franchise be so screwed up? Turns out that it is quite possible. Wonderland expects its teachers to give lessons in other content matter, such as math and science. So, if you're like me and became an English teacher because you suck at math and science, then I would avoid this school.

I think Pagado is a popular chain for adults, but I don't know too much about this franchise.
