Hey Guys,

I don't post here much, but I read a lot.

I'm bored with the old dinner / movie combination going out with girls in Seoul. I need creative, fun, and new ideas.

I want to do something non-typical. I know so little about actual fun things to do in Seoul that I'm actually asking the internet for advice.

Any suggestions? What's the best Seoul-date you've been on?

Cheers. Cool

I don't know about being the "best" ideas, but a few that I enjoyed were:

-Bowling
-Renting a tandem bicycle and riding along the Han River
-Dr. Fish (I'm not sure if this still exists)
-Cooking at home
-Trying oddly themed love motels (if you're at that point yet)
-Aquarium at COEX or 63 Building
-Go to unfamiliar areas in Seoul and take photos

Nice.

I like the themed love motel idea.

Did you pick the Roman orgy room?

HA! Never found that room. I'd have to admit that I might be a little weirded out by such a room.

Geez...now you have me wishing we had love motels back here in the US.

I never dated a girl here that didn't consider me a complete pervert for even remotely suggesting a love motel as opposed to my apartment.

Go to an art museum and presto, you are on a date with something that you can talk about!

There's a Keith Haring retrospective at Seoul Olympic Museum of Art (SOMA.) It's pop art that is sorta cartoon-ey and not that hard to figure out. The exhibit is 12,000 won for adults and it's located in Olympic Park. There's also a huge sculpture garden there where you can walk around take photos of each other. Take some crackers to feed the geese who hang out on one end of the pond.

^ Yeah, I live across the street from Olympic Park. Just hope that you have some nice weather. It's lovely in October/November. I guess that doesn't really help you out immediately, but it's cheap and refreshing.

Also, there's a cool bowling alley in Apgujeong you should check out.

"My apartment is a complete mess. I read about a cool place on the internet. Follow me, I'll take you there."

That should work.

OP:

Going to see the Horse Races is fun. Bets are as low as 100won. If you are not a big gambler, then just bet like 500won on a couple horses and the both of you can cheer. Also, there is a park right next to the racetrack you two can see.

Listening to Live Jazz is good.

If you've been dating for a while, you should schedule a photo shoot with the girl. At the place, they have various clothes and scenes.

I'd imagine you're also an equally complete pervert for researching love motels on the net. Very Happy

It's a bit hot to be out during the day. Could take her to Lotte world though, apart from Ajumma's tossing their kids to the front of lines and the rest of the cutting nonsense it's pretty good. Take her somewhere for lunch first then go after 4pm. Crack some of the indoor attractions before heading outside once it gets cooler. (Less than 50k for the both of you).

There's a great bar with live music under the Lotte Hotel in the same complex for when you've finished, then take her back into Seoul to experience more attractions at a themed love motel (Just say it's a themed hotel?)

Otherwise Myeongdong-> Namsan (Foreigners can get a taxi up to the tower so have your ARC or Passport) -> Whatever else takes your fancy that night.

63Bld Aquarium is good too, better than the Coex one!

Strange considering the reason love motels exist is because most Koreans still live with their parents and HAVE to bang each other outside the home...so your girl is weird. Also, there are luxury love motels that are damn nice.

Isn't that the reason those DVD-bangs exist? Confused

or are those just for the teen-aged sex-obsessed Koreans?

Now I did work out some DVD rooms. Strange, considering they they seem more dingy, shady, and dirty all-round.

My girlfriend and I go to love motels in my neighborhood occasionally strictly for the purpose of getting out of the rat hole I live in.
