Okay. So I was sitting in church at the back, when I thought, jeez I'm the only one whose hair isn't black. So I'm thinking about it, why do Europeans have different hair colors? Or conversely why do non-Europeans have only black hair? Is their some Darwinist explanation of selection? Curious. |

There was a theory that the colour of hair was lightened to attract attention from all the dark haired goons. And then the lighter hair became more successful etc.
But that doesn't make much sense to me.
It's more about location and diversification of genetic material. I'm sure a quick google can give you a yahoo answer. |

You would probably find the answer in gene linkages |

I'm fairly sure it was an evolutionary design created by the flying spaghetti monster so that it could easily distinguish what ethnicity it needed to pluck up with it's noodly appendage for a sacrifice-marinara whilst flying overhead.
You can quote me on this. |

Why do some of my students have dyed hair when they aren't allowed to dye their hair? |

I remeber watching some documentary about it, and one of the latest theories is that the European branch of homo sapiens were kind of stunted evolutionarily for about 10 000 years. They got caught in a small pocket of the ice age when earlier branches from Africa (first across India to Australia, and second across Asia and into the Americas) went out and began settling.
Because of that time in the ice skin pigment had to change to, i dunno, become more compatible with the environment.
It's strange, The European branch had a kind of late start on the evolutionary game (body hair, heavy features), but that kind of gave them an advantage for faster adaptation to the environment. |

Now that's an interesting theory. Whites have less melanin and so are more unsuitable in hot climes, since melanin helps prevent the DNA responsible for the formation of malignant melanoma and other skin cancers. They get more Vitamin D in colder climes, though.
I watched a doc about genetic diversity in a group of islanders near Indonesia. They have neen isolated so long, their genetic make-up is more black than Asian. Blacks appareantly have the highest diversity of genes, then whites, then asians. The isolation in the Ice Age would account for more recessive genes, genes more suitable for colder climes, to prevail. |
