For those of you who have completed this TEFL 20-unit online course (teflonline.net), I'm curious to know how the final test went. Originally I was hoping to have more time to absorb the course content but I'm going to be needing to expedite the process and, hopefully, complete the course in the next week.

As the test can only be taken once, I'm interested in knowing how thorough it really is. I have been taking fairly studious notes for all the units, and I am interested in discovering the style the test is administered. For example, if the test focuses on application of content and not just a general understanding of its principles; or if both, what side it lies heavier on.

To be careful in the matter I'm going to be taking it on another computer, with my laptop handy to review the units themselves in addition to my notes.

I'd hate to fluke out and have to go through the process of starting over again, or paying more money. Any advice would be helpful!

It is very thorough and very long.

It takes most people about 6~8 hours to complete and even some of those people don't pass it.

I did it and started on a Sunday morning around 10am and non-stop I didn't finish it until Monday morning 1am.

Total non-stop time to complete the test (15 hours).

Make sure you are well prepared - even though the test is open book - they require you give lots of examples of how to teach this or that throughout the test and of course about 3 lesson plans you have to write.

I started at 11 pm and finished it around 5 am. Yes, they require you give lots of examples of how to teach this or that throughout the test. I actually didnt study much for it and passed it. I had to look feverishly through the handouts to find the answers and it wasnt easy. Study good for a week and highlight topics so you can find them easier during the test. Good luck!!
