Just wondering what name you think is better. And why?

William is my first name, and Brent is my middle name. I've always gone by my middle name, but have been told that "William" is more marketable when it comes to being a musician or writer.

Googled william got 318'000'000 results. Googled brent got 33'700'000 results. If the Internet is any measure of fame, go with "bill", it got 356'000'000 results.

Call yourself "Brent and William" and get awesome photos taken by photo studios for both of your identities. It'll make yourself twice as attractive to women. Which, I believe, is the point of being a musician.

Brilliam!

I like Brent better because it has a more pleasant sound (to my ear). I have a good friend called Will/William, though he was Bill/Billy years ago when I first met him. Nonetheless, I find William to be too Protestant sounding for my taste. Brent is a working class sounding name which is probably the reason you are being told that William is more marketable.

Brent sounds like the past tense of an irregular verb. Somebody said it sounds working class but I think its more on the elitist side like Chad or Skip. Brent seems to be missing something. How about Brentwood or Brently.

Brent sounds like Bent.

It's one of those vacuous American names like Brad or Scott........William is much better.

I knew a redneck named Brent when I was in HS. He was a jerk and it's an awful name.

WB Surname is good too.

Brent is redneck, but William is too old man. Will is the best I think.

If there is a good chance you will fail at writing, singing, whatever, I would go with Will/William because it is not what the people currently in your life know you as. If you crash and burn, you can go back to your backup career of english teacher, paper pusher, whatever, and noone will easily google your failed music career.

purely coincidental, but there's a character named William Brent in a book I just started reading. He's introduced as a poacher, and all around ne'er do well.

Will sounds like a gay guy. Willie sounds like a janitor. William sounds like a spoiled kid in short pants.

Brent sounds like a jock. Brentwood has a nice ring to it... for a suburb.

What kind of music is it? This is important.
