Hello I signed a contract with a Hagwon and I believe they are processing all my documents right now. I am still in the US and just found out I have a medical condition which will postpone my arrival to work for this hagwon
by about a month. I dont think they will be happy with this and anticipate that they will see this as a breech of contract before I arrive. My question is if I simply cant arrive to teach for them now will that affect my chances of landing a job and attaining a visa at a later date once my health improves? |

If they applied for your visa confirmation number you will be delayed 90 days.
IF they did not have your hard copy documents then there is no problem at all.

Hi TTom,
thanks for the reply...they do have a hardcopy of my documents....when you say delayed for 90 days do you mean that I will not be allowed to apply to another school in Korea or obtain an e2 visa for 3 months if I cancel my contract with this particular school while still in the USA |

Once a visa confirmation number is issued (they are good for 90 days) the immigration office will NOT issue another confirmation number to the same person.
IF the school gets the number for you the chances of them actually going down to cancel it after the fact are about "0" so you have to wait till the number expires 90 days from the issue date.
IF you are lucky you may get some of your hard-copy documents back but again don't count on it. Some of them are gone forever (like your sealed transcripts, degree copy with apostille and the CBC with apostille).
Immigration won't return them after they have been used for an application so you will need to obtain a new set for your new visa application.

thanks TTom i appreciate your feedback...
what about the airline ticket the school bought me....i imagine it is refundable as they anticipate such things...if they request i pay for it i will do that but i want to make sure they did not already get a refund and are trying to extract more money from me. |
