Just looking for any info on this topic. Just straight surfing, not wind/kite. I know its centered around Jungmun. Is it a little surf community around there with shops/rentals etc. ?

THe only thing I can tell you mate is that I was on that beach once, and there were about 12 people on the beach total on a beautiful day, and one luck guy was out in the surf scoring wave after wave.

The waves were nothing compared to a good reef break in Hawaii or Indonesia . . but considering the lack of crowd I was very jealous of what the guy was surfing.

It was in 2005, so there may be more of a crowd by now so don't quote me, but overall it seemed decent.

As far as I know there is no surf shop down in Jungmun but I rarely go there so I could be wrong.

I take it you wanna rent a board?

I don't have my hopes up over the quality of Korean surf but if it's there I'd give it a go.
So, yes, I would be looking to rent some gear.

I don't know of any board rental places unfortunately.
Try asking at "rhymeswithjeju". You may find answers there.

Jungmun beach. Eastern end right near the steps to the showers. Talk to the guys running the table with the parasailing. 30k for 2hrs. Various boards. Had a few decent sets out there. There was maybe 8 people out on a Saturday. Friday was much quieter as well. .at least out in the surf.

I went last weekend, there were no shops but there were some "surfers" hiring out boards. They wanted 50k to rent a board for the day or 40k for 2 hours. I tried explaining to them why those prices were ridiculous considering where we were and the quality of the waves but they wouldn't budge on the price. It annoyed me a bit tbh!!
