|
|
I'm moving down to Namhae at the end of the month and will need a new scooter - does anyone know whether there are scooter shops on the island that sell used bikes?
Alternately, is the 60km ride from Jinju to Namhae straightforward for a person who is new to the area?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks! |

I lived in Namhae for a couple of years. There are 4 or 5 scooter shops in the main town of Namhae. It's no problem to find a new or used one there for a good price. Namhae is a very scooter-friendly town. They even have scooter-only parking spaces on every block of main street.
Unfortunately, the drive to Jinju is not really suitable for a scooter. There may be back roads I don't know, but most of that stretch is a 4-lane highway and scooters and motorcylcles are not permitted. The bus is really the way to get to Jinju.
However, for getting around the island of Namhae, a scooter is great! |

Indeed, bus it to Jinju. Make sure to scoot up to the Seomjin River valley, past Hadong to the Sangyesa temple and Bulpo waterfall. That's one of the best rides in the whole country!

Agreed.

I disagree. It is so hilly around the island that many a scooter motor will burn out unless you are a small guy on a 125 cc. Just going to Sangju beach and back from town is quite an effort for any scooter. |
