Myself and my partner just (literally JUST like 4 hours ago) landed in Gimhae, where we'll be teaching and living. We feel like it's a dream to be so close to Busan for our first year!
Anyway, we just landed and we would LOVE to meet people and maybe someone could show us the ropes? We're at the library right now, and getting by using a Korean phrasebook. Any help or advice on cellphone and internet connection would be awesome.
We're close to Coffee/Waffle love in Jangyu(sp?). Anyone want to meet up drop us a line!! |

Welcome to Jangyu (which recruiters like to tell you is in Gimhae and might be technically, but practically speaking, it is a different town).
Anyhow, we also live in Jangyu and I think I know the Coffee/Waffle Love place you're talking about.
Foreigners around these parts usually meet at the Wa Bar (near Lotte Mart in the center of town) on Thursday nights. I'm not sure if we'll be there this Thursday or not... but I'm sure others will be... this town is pretty small, so chances are we'll run into each other sooner rather than later.
Our employers took care of our internet and cell phone set-up and yours should too. If they don't start figuring it out tomorrow just keep asking them to do it until they do.
If you have any other questions you can pm me. Also, there is a Jangyu group on facebook...
Best of luck! |

Jangyu to me seems amazing. We're in a beautiful little community bordered by three major streets and a mountain. There are HUGE buildings on those streets, too. And here, there are gardens everywhere. That's one of the most amazing things!
I'm perfectly happy being in a smaller community nestled within the Greater Busan Area. We can get to Busan I'm sure, and we can get to Haeundae Beach someday. We are both pretty satisfied! |
