Can someone recommend me adult teaching schools/academies to work for other than Pagoda and YBM? Preferably in Seoul, Ilsan or Bundang...

My hagwon is lowering my hours which means lower pay, so I'm seeking a way out. I want to teach adults but I want to know which places are good, which are bad, etc.

TIA.

Wall Street Institute is a good place to work. I recommend applying: Google the website and find out how.

BCM is possible but not a very good place to work. Some locations are probably good.

Last year I worked for BCM Nowon, which has since shut down. I worked horrible hours (6am until 10:30 pm) and had to deal with some very unreasonable people. Other branches might not be as bad, but if you are going to work for BCM, be very careful.

Wall Street Institute is the best one but I may be biased cause I work there. I work three hours a day. No split shifts and legally work at a second job.

Tough to get in though. 2 - 3 years of experience as a minimum plus TEFL or TESOL or CELTA, etc. etc. PM me if you want more info.

My first employer gives me a letter of permission to add a second job and then I go to immigration with all of my paper work and file for an "Additional Workplace" or something like that. Quite easy. Costs 60,000W to do. If your school with give you permission, anyone can do it. Same goes for adding camps or temporary work.

I second Wall Street Institute. A buddy of mine that I studied Korean with works there now and says it is the easiest job he has ever done. He also does an afterschool program from M-F 1-530 for 2.7 million/month I think. He works at WSI for 3 hours at night M-F and every third Saturday from 10-4Pm for some extra money. His only deductions are the 3.3 %tax rate so he is probably taking home around 4.1 mill a month. Not bad.

He did tell me you need some experience to get in and at least a CELTA. THey get a lot of applicants and a lot of people that work there have been there for 4, 5 + years and aren't going anywhere.

As far as hagwons go, WSI is basically the top of the ladder when it comes to teaching in Korea. You really can't do much better.

Agree with above poster. Wall Street is at the top as far as money making. Really good training. Professional program and atmosphere.

The CELTA thing is a bit of a myth. Not required but definitely a plus.

Two people I know just got hired. One has a teaching certficate and the other has two years of experience.

I think it depends on who you are up against in the application pool and how your interview goes.
