I received my VIN on Monday and now I'm awaiting my visa. I called my embassy and they said I might not receive it until next Thursday. I probably won't arrive in Korea until two weeks after receiving my VIN. Is that late? How long after receiving your VIN did you fly out to Korea? |

I was in Korea 13 days after I received my VIN. I could have gotten there faster, but I was on vacation, so my trip to the consulate was delayed. I got my visa on a Tuesday, and on Friday morning I was getting on a plane. |

wait, what?
to re-cap: you have received your visa issuance number, right? through email or whatever? then you took that number, along with some forms and things to the korean consulate? now you're waiting on getting the physical visa stamped into your passport?
from dropping in your visa issuance number et al to getting your passport back will be about a week. sometimes more for americans.
you have THREE MONTHS to use the visa - that is, to get into the country.
it varies for everyone when they use it - i used mine one week after i got it, even though my contract doesn't start for another four weeks. some people get the visa and jump on the plane the next day. others might somehow need most of the allowable time to enter the country.
it really depends on personal circumstances, is what i'm saying. |
