Is there a way to temporarily extend my ARC?

I am still waiting for my background check to arrive from the states but my ARC expires at the end of August. I dont want to be penalized but I dont know what my other options are.

I read about people who are LEAVING having their ARC temporarily extended, but what's the deal for people who are renewing?

Good question. Have your coworker call immigration to find out, I'm sure it's possible. I had to extend mine for leaving and all it took was stopping in and showing them my plane ticket (and it was leaving the day after my card expired; the guy seemed irritated i wasted his time on it).

Probably be able to have the school vouch that you are renewing, but your paperwork is being delayed, and get a little bit more time. But have them call and find out, that's the best way to get an answer.
