Hi! I am a Korean adoptee from New York. I am in the process of applying for teaching positions. Even though I have lived in the US since I was a baby, I am considered a gyopo, which seems to limit my job options.
I was wondering if any other gyopos/adoptees had any success with certain recruitment agencies etc.? Some won't even look for me. Also, how your experience has been job searching/working as a gyopo in Korea...

Really sorry to say that the racism is pretty bad with hawgwons; you'll be able to get better grounding with a public school, preferably EPIK, SMOE, GEPIK, or Talk Korea. The latter which caters towards foreign born Koreans. As for hawgwons, it'll be tough, but lots of foreigners are having issues finding good jobs in Korea.
The well is running dry and you might want to just pick a space outside Seoul for better conditions. |
