Hello all, I recently failed my interview with AEON =( and I'm trying to expand out my horizon to Korea.
I recently applied at Aclipse to teach in Korea either in the private school or public and I got a response back from the recruiter giving me some info about phone interview.
I replied back with my available dates and was wondering how long the process take for them to schedule me the interview as well as the content they'll be asking me

They are just a recruiting service selling your resume out to different schools to see if anyone will bite.

| from what I remember before Aclipse primarily hire for CDI.....this was 2 years ago so maybe things have changed. |

I got a public school job through Aclipse. Though admittedly they did offer me DMOE or CDI.
If I recall, the interview with Aclipse, when I was taken on by the recruiting company, not not the interviews with schools, was set up fairly quickly, just a few days. They asked pretty much standard job interview questions, "Tell me about yourself," "Why do you want to teach in Korea," and threw in a few "What would you do if you were lost in Korea," type questions. It wasn't very stressful.
It has been two years since I've worked with them, so things may have changed. |

CDI is loaded with gyopos. Why'd you fail the first interview? |

CDI is loaded with gyopos. Why'd you fail the first interview? |
Oh, I haven't failed any other than my aeon interview, which is irrelevant. Maybe I should wait longer? |

I might be confusing them with somebody else, but I pretty sure that Aclipse is CDI...or CDL..or whatever they call themselves now. |

Anyone recently gotten interviewed with Aclipse? Any tips will be greatly appreciated... |

Aclipse is CDI (or owned by them, I don't know the exact structure), but they also work as recruiters for other jobs as well. Aclipse is the recruiter I went through when first coming here. It was pretty smooth sailing, I don't think the original poster has much to worry about so long as he can answer some basic interview questions. |

| I just wanted to confirm for you that yes, ACLIPSE primarily recruits for Chungdahm Learning. You should be fine, don't stress. I had an interview with them back in May, but have not yet accepted the offer because I am on a wait list for EPIK Seoul. EPIK is supposedly much easier than CDI because you work fewer hours, and get much more time off. However, I currently have a friend who is working for CDI in Seoul, she has been with them for over a year now and loves it, though she does work a lot. By the way CDI owns ACLIPSE, as it gives them away to more easily higher Americans for their schools. Also, if you pass this interview then the real fun starts, paperwork, a youtube video etc, but this is nothing compared to what I have had to for EPIK over the last 3 months! Let me know if you have any questions, as I have been working on moving to Korea for some time now:-) |

I've been researching about cdi and are they still doing the part time thing? I don't want to left out without housing and stuff.
And is cdi public school or hagwon? It seems like I'm getting two different results about cdi and I could swear aclipse was telling me how public school is better than hagwon.. |

CDI does not do part-time, I think what you mean is hourly vs. salary. Basically, salary gets all of the benefits vs. hourly you are on your own. In other words, salary gets insurance, apartment, paid vacation etc. However, and this may and is often better, hourly ends up getting paid a lot more, like $1000.00 a month more. CDI will work you very hard, and you are guaranteed a set number of hours, 96 I believe, but it is up to you to keep up with your hours if you are hourly, and I think that you can pick up extra "shifts" if need be. My friend who has been with Chungdahm has worked hourly, and has had no problem making ends meet. In addition, she likes being hourly, where she pays for her apartment on her own, because she has a guaranteed apartment. If the housing is provided by the school, you will loose the housing immediately after the contract or should you choose to quit. She had quit her previous school, because of bad management, and basically had no place to live until she got the job with CDI. However, hourly is less secure, every month you may make a different amount. On top of that your offer from ACLIPSE will be both in hourly and salary because you will not know until you know what exact location you will be teaching at. Every location has a specific allocation of each type they may have, so you may be hourly or salary, you may specify, but in realty you have no control, it's up the specific school. BUT don't worry about it, it really makes no difference, as you will be either provided with housing or assisted with housing. This may be difficult to overcome, but in Korea, in order to survive, you must simply go with the flow and you will be fine. Once you get there you may find that you prefer one way over another, and plan your next contract accordingly. By the way, when are you planning on leaving? If I do not receive my NOA from EPIK by the end of the month, I think I will take CDI up on their offer. Again, let me know if you have anymore questions.  |

 Forgot, one more thing, yes CDI is a HAGWON, (private, after school program). The only way to get in with Public is by applying to EPIK, EPIK Seoul (SMOE), or GEPIK.  |

Thank you soooo much for all the detailed replies you've put in for my questions. This cleared up a lot of my questions and I really hope I don't mess up my interview tomorrow.
If I pass the interview, do they tell me immidiately that I got the position or do I have to play the waiting game again?
