I have been working at my school for the last 9 months. I have been asked to re-sign for another year.
Do I have to do a visa run when it expires in Dec?
I heard they can just take your alien card and sign the back of it, true?
How about getting a new cbc, since all that jazz came in with the FBI?
Thanks! |

If you are re-signing with your same school:
1) you do NOT need to do a visa run.
2) you WILL need an FBI check IF you are doing the paperwork AFTER the new year. You WILL need an FBI check (or have an FBI check on file) if you want to change/extend your status AFTER the new year. IF you do it before you will be fine until you need to extend/change AGAIN.
3) the paperwork for an extension:
ARC,
PASSPORT (and a copy of the info page),
New contract with the end date clearly shown,
letter of guarantee (sponsorship form from your employer),
Copy of the current business registration (of the employer),
Application form,
Fee (30k won for the extension),
IF you want re-entry privileges (for vacation travel) AFTER you extend your visa you will have to ADD that to your application (even if you had a multiple entry or re-entry permit from before - the old one does NOT carry over into the extension).
Tick the extra box on the top of the application form and add an additional 50k won for the multi-entry permit fee (free if you are from the UK).

Also, if your degree wasn't verified by a Korean consulate, or appostilled when you first came here, you will need to get that done as well. |
