So I arrived in Busan about a week ago. I just graduated and I decided to look
for a job out here and I did some research before coming. Most posts I looked at
advised not to accept a job before you arrive.

I have been here a week, I've posted my resume on eslcafe,
koreabridge and other places and I still haven't had an in person interview.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a place in the city with job postings
for foreigners? Is there another site/recruiter I should be trying?

Also since I flew over here on my own dime, is there any special request I should be
making to my prospective school, or do I just eat that cost?

One last thing, my girlfriend prefers that I keep my beard. Would it be easier to find
a job if I shave?

Seriously? Because with zero experience I'm not sure I've ever seen that advised.

You cheese yourself pretty hard brodious.

It might be easier to find a job, but you will have to fly back to the MOTHERLAND to get your consulate interview done and attain the holy e-2.

Yep, you should have stayed at home. As pointed out before, you'll have to go home to do a consulate interview anyways.

Your mistake was flying to Korea to do something you do over the phone/internet. Most employers just want a warm body, they don't care enough to see you in person. It's a plus, but it's not worth flying out to Korea on your own dime to do. And oh yeah, you're not getting your flight money back. And yes, you will do better if you shave and use a photo of yourself in a shirt and tie, clean and professional looking.

What boggles the mind is that you saw that most people said not to come over without a job, and yet you still did it. To get a job in Korea you just need to look clean and professional in your photo, have a clean CRC, a degree and a pulse. The rest is simply up to mass mailing recruiters and spamming Dave's job board with your resume, and said photo.

So because this is my first teaching job the interview can not be done in a visa run via Japan, only at home?

And I read at least 8 threads saying it's better to see your classroom/building in person before signing a contract, but maybe that was old information (maybe a year or two).

If you're American then Guam is a legitimate option that schools will pay for. Due to extenuating circumstances, I ended up in Korea without a job and went to Guam.

Those threads were either very old or were for teachers who already had 9 months experience in Korea. For sure, it is better to see the place in person, but that doesn't mean it's better to come here without a job not having taught here before.
