I'm sure this will be useful for someone, as I've been looking for this information for some time now.

I've just spoken to immigration. I'll be re-signing for one more year at my current school (academy) in December. Aside from the usual paperwork (business registration and so on) that my hagwon provides, I just need to get my degree certified with an apostille. I was told that no police check and health check are necessary.

If I were re-signing after January 1st, I'd also need the national police check from my home country. I'm kind of glad that I don't, as it would be a major headache.

My advice to anyone re-signing after January 1st would be to get the wheels in motion now regarding the police check.

I'm gonna ask a Korean friend to help me certify it through the Korean Council for University Education (http://cs.kcue.or.kr).

Immigration lady told me that the options were to do this, or to send it back home and get it apostilled there.

Can you keep us posted on this and how to do it? Otherwise, the only other thing to do is to send your diploma to the local Embassy/Consulate back in the USA.

OP, you're British, right? Is that all British people (or people generally) have to do for renewing? Nice one, it's going to be easier than I thought.

I'm baffled about this apostilled degee requirement. My diploma is here, so I need to send it home, have someone take it to the Korean embassy, copy it then apostille it? Or I need to send my original somewhere to have it apostilled then ake tha to the embassy? i really don't have any idea what I'm supposed to do. I have my original here plus several copies that were stamped at the Koran embassy in the past but aparently those are useless now.

I'm getting a E-2 visa transfer and haven't been informed by my new employers about this....

Is it the original degree with apostillle or just will a copy suffice with aposttile suffice??

Can't we get an apostille from the american embassy in Korea?

THANK YOU!

This was the info I needed.

I was freaking out that I did not have my CRC from the US or my medical check done but the lady on the phone at immigration told me that all I needed was my school documents (business certificate and contract). She told me that I didnt even need a copy of my degree but I have extras and I'm taking it just in case.

Of course from what I understand everything depends on who you talk to on the phone so we'll see.

so now you have to show all (jan 1st) your docs again just for renewal with the same school? Does immi really think your degree cert is going to have changed since the first time they approved it? This is all nuts.

Rather than starting a new thread - I'm just going to ask here.

I'm transferring my E2, but first I need to extend my visa at my current workplace to cover my last week, then make the transfer. If I go to Immigrations to extend, will I need to show a plane ticket or a contract for my new school, or can I simply extend, and then go a few days later with my new employer to transfer it? Is it a better idea to just do it all at once?

Thanks!
