During my relatively brief time in Korea I have given Immigration:
22 copies of my sealed transcripts and two apostilled copies of my diploma
5 apostilled copies of a state police check and one apostilled FBI check
and I've done 4 health checks
How many times do they need the same documents?
How many have you given them? |

I can understand the health checks, but things like transcripts are not going to change. Also, a CRC from your home country while you have been teaching all this time in Korea is rather pointless.
Maybe they are going after those Christmas serial killers who sneak out during holiday breaks to do their evil deeds and retreat into hiding in Korea. |

Are you sure that they are needed for immigration? Unless you are applying for a new visa I sincerely doubt it.

If he changed hagwons every year (as I did) then yes, that sounds about right.
It's only when you stay on at the same job that you get to use previous
documents. (or at least that's what I was told)
Regarding the transfer process, I think it came into effect after I left Korea, so I know nothing about it.
It is nuts, because immigration had all my documents from the time I arrived right until my previous year, but they still wanted me to re-submit
for each new job.
The medical checks, I had to do 2 a year in the PS system.
Good Luck. |

I have commented on this before. I agree for some papers it is silly. Well because they are static. They just do not change. Well some I can understand wanting and needing in a somewhat regular manner. Just wish they would be logical and understanding. But this is government better to ask for a pony while at it.
My dream system. Well not dream but could accept.
Degree/Transcripts - One and done for government. If school wants to see then they should be happy with a transcript. Government should keep on file.
CRC - Me I would be a bit harsh with this. Not needed if not been back at all. Once person goes back to home country even for a day, well to be fair give it a week or two. I could see asking for a new check. But overall some logic is needed. Plus some sort of better way to verify.
Health check - Once a year only and only if teacher is signed up for health insurance. Plus some sort of standard set out of what gets booted. I would like to separate drug testing from this.
Drug testing - 1 or 2 a year random testing. Costs paid by school or government. Keep simple - nurse, guard, and quick test cup. Come to place of work. Go to bathroom - pee in cup, hand over to nurse, go back to work.
This is well for E-2. If I do for one department they should be happy for all. At the most copies of docs would be fine.

He's speaking in the past tense, not present. Only 4 health checks? Have you been asked to submit one(as well as provide them with everything you've already submitted to Immigration) mid-contract for MOE? |
