My apartment is completely electric and has a really bad ondol.
I need to plug in the ondol on both sides of the room (I live in a 1 room) and even when I crank it all the way, the temperature is tepid at best.
Also, I live in a poorly insulated corner apartment, so when the wind blows hard outside I feel it.
I have a small space heater that is bascialy useless. Once it warms up if I move it close to me it burns my skin off. If I move it away slightly the head doesnt reach me. It doesnt really heat the air either.
So with that in mind I have two questions.
1) What should I look for to heat my apartment this Winter?
2) Since its Summer, do you think I can get a deal on a heating device somewhere? |

| There are different kinds of heaters. THe one you're talking about seems like its radiant heat. Itis basically a heat lamp where the light turns into heat on contact. It doesn't warm the air very well and can be difficult to fond a sweet spot for. I have a blowing heater, which blows hot air. It heats more evenly and doesnt require you to find a sweet spot between too hot and too cold. Works very well, as it heats up my apt in around 10 min and is a lot cheaper then the floor heat. |

Awesome! Thanks for the advice.
Are these blow heaters expensive? Do you know the Korean name for them or can you recommend a brand so that I can start researching?
I'm not really in my apartment that often, so I'm not too worried about how much energy costs will be for it.
I also have a really small place (easy to cool with my aircon).
The ondol that I have is useless though and I need to be prepared for this winter. |

Um, i don't know my brand but it was a familiar brand (Honeywell i think). I'msure they have em at homeplus. I got mine ehre for 20,000 used, back in the states they sold for $30-80 depending on size/quality. You should be able to get one for 40-50. Really a money saver in the long term and heats small apartments much faster.
