| In a lot of ways it has nothing to do with the hardware or OS. The Zune in many ways had better hardware than the iPod, but well we know how that battle ended. It's about the support, apps, and market saturation. Right now the iPad has a good headstart from any other competitors, and is backwards compatible with most iPhone/iPod Touch apps. Meaning most people that already own one of those and are considering a tablet computer will probably overwhelmingly choose the iPad. |

I have an iPod Touch and I do like it in many ways, but I can't stand the proprietary software part of it. So, as soon as I upgrade my phone to an Android or WP7 I will end up selling my iPod. Also, when I do buy a tablet, which I plan on doing, it will be either an MS, or Android OS; I like flash, multitasking, an HDMI slot, USB ports, camera, and, well you get the idea.
As consumers we have many choices and I have made my choice. |

It has always been proprietary vs open source when looking at apple vs anything.
I will always go open source and gave up on apple back in the days of the 2C. They have never changed their ways and they will never get my business for that reason.
IMHO - Open source, open architecture, open design is the only way to go if you are a consumer.
