|
|
Well folks, it seems as though I may be homeless in Busan... at least for a month. I have recently accepted a contract that begins in September that I am pretty satisfied with. I will be working in the Sajik neighbourhood a stones throw away from the baseball stadium. My contract provided me with a housing allowance in lieu of an apartment. I did this because my wife will be joining me a month later in Korea with an apartment provided to her by her employer. So until October, i will be, in effect, HOMELESS. Does anybody have any advice on any hostels/homestays in the area? Any advice is appreciated. I don't have a problem paying a reasonable rate (hopefully under 15$/day) for reasonable and SAFE accomodations.
Thanks,
JFV |

You are going to be paying at least 25 a day, but some of the love motels in Sassang, Busan Station, and a slew of other areas, you can negotiate for 500 a month. The only problems you will ever run into as far as safety is running your mouth in KSU and getting a beat down by Hangooks or Waegooks. If you don't get blacked out drunk and run your mouth you will not run into any problems. |

Yes, but be prepared to live in a box with no windows. |

are any of these like the coffin hotels ya hear about in Japan?
With the global recession, I always read about guys stuck livin' in them and going out to turn in resumes everywhere in the land of the setting sun... |

One year ago this month I negotiated 400 for a month. However, it was not in Busan, but a much smaller city. I bet you could still do it if you checked around. |

a few days here, a few there. Busses are cheaper than accomodation
It would give you a chance to see korea a bit too.
just an idea... |

I think that you'll need to find a hostel/pension/yogwan or a goshiwon. Maybe you can ask your boss to recommend one for you. Or look on line for hostels in that area. On short notice, you're probably not going to find anything that's the same cost as an apartment (i.e. it will cost you more than rent normally would), but it's just for a month right?
@ le-paul.
The OP is going to be working. couch surfing is great if you're travelling, not if you have to go to work each day. it's also not very reliable. he should shell out the money for a cheap hostel. |

Goshiwons are fine. I kicked around in one for a bit awhile back.
Just poke around. 400 a month should get you a nicer one. Maybe your own private shower, it should have internet, tv some closet space, air con, laundry, probably some food, etc. Make sure you check that it's clean.
You can get cheaper ones around 200 but they're pretty bad. I've seen a couple on TV specials that were around that price and they were pretty nasty.
Thought if you have a lot of stuff, you might have to store it for a month. You should have no problem keeping your clothes and a few other things there, but you're not going to have room for anything big. |

I think you may have already found a place, but I have an extra apartment if you're interested. |
