What do I need to know to play? Do I need to buy for a battle.net account/own the game? Or can I just go in and play?

You do not need to own the game, but you will need your own Battle.Net account. Keep in mind your PCbang charge might be higher than normal because Blizzard is charging PCbang $0.21 per hour and they'll most likely pass that cost on to YOU.

People with Korean WoW accounts can play SC2 for free as long as the WoW account is active. And vice versa.

That will probably pass on into the overall cost

You will have to do what I did. That is, find a Korean to do the battlenet for you. It's kinda crazy playing on the Korean servers, they always kick my *$#.

Can anyone help me?

I want to try out Starcraft 2 in the PC bang by my house. How can I log into it using my battle.net account without buying a digital copy of the game myself.

I'm willing to suffer through Korea (or find a crack/convince the PC bang employees to load up an ebgish verson or something) but I can't figure how to get into the game with out buying it myself.

Has someone managed this? Thanks for your help.

I don't think there's anyway around it. It's less to do with battlenet and more to do with Korea. When Blizzard made this game, it was more graphic and violent, so the Korean government gave it an M-19 rating. Because of this, to play this game in any PC room, you must register through battlenet.korea AND proof that you are 19 or older.

However, I've tried the past week to log on as a waygook, using my foreign ID, which isn't recognized on the battlenet sign up screen. Despite the options listed, only a Korean can actually sign up for battlenet.

My advice is find a Korean co-teacher or friend and have them set up an account for you. It's much less painful for them to do so.

This is not true. Foreigners can join the Korean battle.net site.

Has this been a recent fix? Because when I change my nationality to meguk and put in my ID number, I get an error message; I really hope you're right.

First, the select box does not ask for your nationality. It says "location". You should leave it set to Korea. I used the ipin option to sign up, but I have a feeling entering your name and ID number will work just as well. When I enter my name and ID number now, it tells me I already have an account. It doesn't say invalid ID number or anything like that.

Try again. Leave the country set to Korea. If you get an error message, post it here.

I've been trying to make a bnet account for the past two days, but it keeps crashing.

First, I select my location: Korea, South.
Second, I agree to the three paragraphs for terms of use & click continue.

On the following page, it just shows half of an orange box (i'm assuming error message) with no option to go any further.

Am I doing something wrong here, or is bnet just working out bugs?

That orange box is not an error message, it's a warning. It says that using another person's name/ID number to sign up is illegal and lists the maximum fines and things like that.

You should see two options above the orange box....

아이핀(I-Pin) and 이름 + 주민등록번호.

Choose the first one to verify your identity using i-pin. Choose the second one to enter your name and ID number

Amazingly now I have an option for I-pin. Are you fluent in Korean, Nick? Or maybe a Korean helped you fill out the form, because I'm not seeing any English version of this I-pin form. I tried entering my name and SS number on the other form but it doesn't take.

This has got to be the most convoluted bureaucracy in the history of man just to play a game. Can't I just give blizzard $40 to avoid this headache and play?

More specifically, I enter all my I-pin info on the form, and I get this message after clicking the confirm button:

가입확인 버튼을 눌러주십시오.
"please click the 'ok' button to subscribe"

I JUST DID CLICK THE OK BUTTON!

grumble

I wouldn't say I'm fluent, but I'm pretty good. Certainly enough to fill out some forms on a website. In order to use the i-pin first you have to register at http://www.vno.co.kr Once you've registered there you can use your i-pin ID/password to verify your identity at any website that uses i-pin. Excuse me for asking a stupid question here.... If you can't read Korean how are you going to play the game in Korean?

When you tried entering your name and ID number on the other form, what error did you get? How did you enter your name? On most sites you must use your full name as it appears on your ID card, with all capital letters, and no spaces between the names.

For example, if your name is John David Smith, you must enter SMITHJOHNDAVID
