Hello,

I am off to Japan to do a visa run by the end of the week, but I need to know how long does it take to process an E2 visa in Japan?

Thanks,

You'll drop it off the first day and pick it up the next, so make sure your trip includes at least 2 business days.

Overnight stay if you head to Osaka or Fukuoka.

It is usually 2 nights if you go to Tokyo.

Lots of info and maps in the FAQs about doing a visa run to either.

Dropped my application off in Fukuoka at 1:30pm on a Wednesday and it was ready at 10am Thursday. This was last month. It should only require a one night stay.

In Fukuoka it matters of WHEN you get the application in. You get it in the morning you can pick up the next afternoon. If you are late tack on another day! Also do not forget visa fee and some extra photos.

Good Luck.

I've read on this forum that it's possible to do it in one day, but forget the details. Heard this years ago, and things change.

They told me they don't do same-day processing anymore. I think you are best to submit it in the morning or right after they reopen after lunch. Lunch is noon to 1:30. This should ensure it's ready the next morning at 10.

They stopped "same day" processing back in 2006.

Overnight at most consulates in Japan (longer in Tokyo) and 4-7 day service in most of SE Asia.
