Hello,
I have searched through the forums over the last couple of days trying to answer my questions and although I am sure this question is out there I did not find the answer... I was wondering if there is a certain program, school or anything in Korea where they will hire you with only 3 years of college experience? I do not have my degree but I have completed 3 years and I would really love to go and teach in Korea soon. I have volunteer experience teaching ESL and conversational English and I am really not sure if that is enough to go on. I went on talk.go.kr and I know that I can apply there but I have read in other forums where users have suggested applying to multiple places at once. If anyone is able to grace me with there advice that will be greatly appreciated!
O, and just one more question, what is the best area for a non white American female teacher? I don't know if this truly matters because I have not been in Korea myself but from what I have read and heard some areas are more open than others. Again any insight would be great!
Thank you and sorry this is so long!! |

You need a degree to get an E-2 visa, but I dunno about other options. Good luck.

No idea, but most of Seoul would be alright as far as I would guess.
(I'm a wealth of info, I know.) |

Keep in mind that TALK pays much less than the other programs and that you will likely be placed in a rural area. |

I've been here with an E-2 Visa for 2 years... no degree just 3 years of college (graduated).
I've not had any problem with immigration.
I work in Gyeonggi-do under the GEPIK contract. The same one as all others here.
2 mil starting pay. |

But on another thread you claimed that you were working under the TALK program as an intern. |

TheUrbanMyth- OOO okay, I am not against a rural area but a city area is always nice, thank you for the heads up!!!
04287- O wow I have not heard about that one yet! I guess I didn't do a good job of researching after all lol, but I took a look at the site and I will try for their internship program and hopefully my university will give me some credits^_^
Thank you guys!!!! |

umm...How did you get a job with GEPIK without a BA? The 2 mill won is for someone with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Since its a government job they have far more consequences than a hagwan if they hire you illegally without one...I think you need to give her more details about your situation before you say that GEPIK will probably hire her, because without a BA, I would say no. |

Hey!
I'm glad you found the TaLK program. My friend is in Korea getting training for that right now. You are right in thinking TaLK will allow you to work in Korea without a college degree.
Another friend of mine is working with Elly An from EOEC. Look into that, I know they are looking for teachers. My friend is a junior in college and she said that it would be just fine. |

If you graduated, doesn't that mean that you have a degree? |

Woominlee2- Hey there thank you for the advice! I checked out the website and it was very pretty but with my beginner Korean I just couldn't seem to figure out anything BUT I am going to try again and see if I can have information sent to me or something^_^ thanks again!
fugitive chicken- I took a look at that site again for GEPIK and I saw two options BUT I am looking to go in the winter/spring time so I am not sure if even the internship will workout. I would rather respect the law so thanks for the extra info because if it is not legal I cant risk it ^_^
Thank you all who are responding this helps out a lot! |
