Okay, save the abuse for being stupid and not checking the small print; I know, I know.
Basically, I got a new contract phone about a month ago. The phone was cut off yesterday, I got my co-worker to call the company to see what was going on.
It had an internet app that honestly, I used sparingly, checking my facebook or whatever; but whatever the ridiculous charges on the phone were, my bill is now over 400, fucken thousand won. Can't believe it. I guess it's my own fault for not checking the small print but *beep* me; that seems a bit extornionate.
Have I any options here? Any chance they might let me off some of the bill if I explain Im a stupid waeguk that didn't understand the internet pricing plan on the phone. Lesson learned anyway, Id love to *beep* the bill phone off now and just go back to getting minutes after that experience. |

| Ouch. You can try and plead with them but you probably wont have much luck. Ignorance of the data rate doesnt mean you're not responsible for the fees.... Internet is expensive on any carrier, Korean or not, without a data plan... |

try to meet them half way. tell them that had you known it would have been that expensive you would have subscribed to a data package that would have covered the data that you used.
ask them to retro-date the appropriate package, and tell them you are willing to keep that package on if they retro it for you...
see if that works. if not, just play the foreigner card and make some bullshit up... |

I knew one teacher that had a Korean friend have the locks replaced on his door. Sometimes someone would sneak in and use his phone and run up his bill by making international calls. The amount you quote seems excessive and unlikely if only you used your phone. |

| The cost sounds about right. A buddy's K-girlfriend racked up 700,000 in the first month by watching K-dramas online. |

| I've been texting like a maniac this last month, I hope it doesn't come back to bite me. |
