I'm one of those how have to seriously sit down and think about what I'm going to do next year regarding the new immigration laws about to come in effect. So, I have two questions as a Canadian.
1. Has anyone actually gone through the hassle of going to a local cop shop to get fingerprinted and has successfully received their RCMP check while in Korea?
2. Has anyone used Real Time Identification (RTID) and gotten their CBC in 3 days. If so did you have any trouble with Korean immigration?

#2 is not available outside Canada at this time....so #1 is your only option if you insist on an RCMP check. |

I am considering taking a vacation back to the land of the frost to get it. So I was wondering if it was valid. |

Thanks, for the reply. I believe you just made my next few months rather exciting. Haven't been back in the land of the frost for a number of years. I would like to hear from someone who actually did it though. |

I did it when I first came over. Still have the original. That was two years ago. I am confused though. Do I have to do that shit again even if I am renewing at the same school? |

Don't think so. I had a local check done that's why I need a RCMP background check. That and the immigration office that I submitted it to. (Ahem..Masan) conveniently misplaced my CBC. |

How long did it take for you to get? Did they send it through the mail? |

I'm doing mine now. I did it before two years ago as well and had a bad experience. I had the official RCMP form, available if in Canada, mailed to me at that time. I brought it to the police for finger prints here. (Not all police stations offer fingerprinting services, or say the won't anyway) I followed all the instructions and even checked off the vulnerable sector screening box (*big mistake). I sent other necessary information, waited four months and received my envelope with a letter saying they wouldn't process it because VSS couldn't be done outside of Canada. With one month to go I fixed the checked VSS box, and sent it back asking them to put a rush on it. Never received it again, but also sent off for local check, thankfully.
This time I went to the main police station in Yongsan (called ahead and they do fingerprinting), took five minutes. Got the bankcheck for 25$ (40 000 won to Receiver General for Canada I believe) and online RCMP criminal check request form as well as another letter with other specific information they wanted and mailed it off last week. Hopefully this one will get back to me. May as well start early. |

I'm waiting this one out. I figure the rules will be firmly in place after about 6 months of nonsense. |
