An odd question to many I'm sure but here goes.
I'm looking for a shop or shoemaker in Seoul who makes shoes by hand. I'm curious about any places that teach people how to make shoes in Seoul but I can start by talking with someone actually doing the work.
Thanks for any ideas!

That sounds like a really fun hobby. Please let me know as well if you know of a place. |

Sounds good. I have a feeling a lot of things here are manufacturing based. Maybe someone will post some interesting info.

I can't point you to any specific shop, but there were a few shops that used to custom make shoes in Itaewon a few years ago. It's probably worth wandering into a few of the independent shoe shops there and asking. |

Gotcha - I hadn't noticed any while wandering around and didn't know of the previous shops. A bit hit or miss but it's one possible route. |

The shops I'm talking about were mom and pop shoe stores- dimly lit, and filled to the bursting point with shoes, but they would also custom make a pair for you at a pretty reasonable price, if you asked. The only reason I knew about it was because a friend got a gorgeous pair of boots made. |

Thanks Peppermint - so just wandering into the smaller, off the wall places is what you think might do the trick?
Most of the main street shops seem like they're more conventional importers of shoes rather than makers of shoes. Maybe I'll try the streets parallel to the main drag? |

The only one I specifically remember was on the main drag, on the same side of the road as the Hamilton Hotel, about halfway between there and the post office, but a guy friend mentioned gettiing his shoes made somewhere else in the "won. |

Thanks for the specifics Peppermint - very much appreciated and I'll wander over that way today.
Take care. |
